Savvy TJ Corner Armor & Rock Sliders

I think I’m gonna go with Fluxor , the savvy stuff for emailing back and forth is too much work . I’m gonna see if Fluxor can do a special order with a step when I’m ready for sliders and corner armor

I've got sliders from @Fluxor asked him for a step and he explained to me why I didn't want them. I'm only 5'8" with 35's and a 5.5" lift, you get used to hopping in and out. Easy to do business with, good communication, quality products
Getting in the Jeep I usually step one foot in and climb in and getting out I hop out . My end goal for my Jeep is 35s . Currently I’m on 4inch rock jock / savvy lift

I did the same before switching to his sliders. Step on the door jam now, stuck a little grip tape in the front corner so my foot doesn't slip getting in and out.
 
Are they both called rub rails? The ones that mount to the corner armor and wrap around the rear corner and the ones that go along the upper portion of the rock slider?

They all serve similar purposes. They all help keep the body out of the rocks without getting in the way too much. The slider rub rail helps keep rocks out of the door opening and the corner armor rub rail helps protect the soft top spline.
 
I just got my hands on the Artec rockers. They do have a slight step built in.

The only time I miss the step from the gen rights is when my 7 year old daughter wants to climb in without wanting to get a little dirty. Otherwise she just climbs the tire and over the tub.

For any other usage, mini boat side is miles better for everything off-road (paired with a rub rail). You can't hit what isn't there and the nerf bar on the genright just caught me up many times where I can sneak by now.

Are they rails that rub against stuff to slow down sheet metal damage? While they may also be functional as a stiffener, that term is generally reserved for the bits INSIDE the tub that the rail and back fasteners go through.

Using the term "stiffener" for rub rails means you can also call corner armor a stiffener because technically, it is stiffening the sheet metal.
 
I have been asked by a few customers to add a "tube/step". The issue for me is function.

I am sure there are certain trails in a certain situations which maybe common for some with a tree/rock that you could use the tube to pivot around preventing body/door damage. There are way more situations when the tube will catch and prevent you from moving forward, you can not drag what is not there. It also creates leverage and if/when you slam down hard enough on the tube other things start tweaking. The main number one issue I have is none of the above mentioned sliders can be used as a functional step by the vast majority of people with a size 5 or larger shoe. They simply are not a step. Please go to your TJ/LJ and look at the floor board height, then look at your rocker. The OE step is barely usable for most and it hangs down 4 ish" below the rocker edge. Any tube that is placed at or higher than the floor board does not function as a step. Even a tube placed at the floor board level does not work well. You will find it in the way when getting in, you will stop using it as a step to get in placing your foot over the sill and onto the floor board because its lower, your heel will slip off the tube when exiting catching your belt loop on the door striker ripping your belt loop once, then you will add grip tape and now you have effectively designed a anti "Rock Slider". This is my sticking point. I want to avoid making parts that don't work well just because people want them. I mean no offense in this to those that want them, I understand that there are different strokes for different folks.

Imagine you have a deck off the back of your house and you hired me to build you a step and the step I built was simply a extension of the deck or worse it was higher. Even though I built you what you the "step" you wanted and you love it, anyone that sees my work goes wait what??

Test it, clamp a 2x4 to the side of your jeeps rocker, try and use it as a step and report back.

I have this design for those wanting a "tube". It does function as a replaceable rub rail helping to keep the body out of harms way, its close to the body minimizing leverage, its mechanically attached so it can give a small amount before retaining a bend or damaging what's behind it, so I'm into these things. I will never say this is a functioning step. It is a replaceable 6061 Solid stock rub rail. The outside most surface of the round stock is 2" away from the body. If you compare the visuals it sits in a similar place to that other manufacturers claimed tube steps reside.

The only reason people think they want a fat tube to pivot the Jeep around with is because the only armor they have ever had is stuff that gets in the way of itself. They think being the bull in a China shop is the way it is done. It is no different from people who get excited over lifting tires high off the ground, instead of learning to drive and control the vehicle. They would rather seek out the spectacle.

100% these two points. I’m 5’8” with a 28” inseam. Even if I had a step I wouldn’t use it because it would be too high to be usable and then you’re doing this awkward shuffle from outside the door trying to get inside the door trying to sit(fall) onto a seat that is now ankle height and there’s a steering wheel in the way. A good grab handle near the windshield with your right hand, swing your right leg into the Jeep and just lift with your arms until your butt is in the seat. Way easier.
