No station display on radio

I just installed a used OEM radio in my 2002 TJ. When it came on the station display appeared and the sound came on but within 30 seconds the station display disappeared and I still have the sound working. All connections are tight and the ground is good just wondering if anyone else has had this experience

Ive had more dodge/jeep/chrysler vehicles than I can count, all bought used. I dont recall the radio read out ever working, or at best having half the read out gone. Pretty common issue in my experiences.

I use basic aftermarket units. Not a fan myself of double DIN modern crap in a 20+ year old vehicle. Kinda like a 75 year old woman getting breast implants.

Jensen "Heavy Duty Radio" - available in several flavors. Looks decent, performs well, and is very water resistant. No bullshit screens. I actually installed one of these plus a small CB radio into a "double DIN" bezel.

Thanks for all the suggestions. What it boils down to is if it’s not an easy fix I don’t really care enough about tunes in my noisy jeep. It’s not a daily driver. I’ll listen to the engine.

I almost went this way too. Use that space for something else, like a CB and/or GMRS.

Just curious . . . what model radio. Should be three small letters on the face somewhere. eg. RBK
'Allpar Radio' is a good site. Some of the OEM radios are made by major manufactures like Alpine, etc.
