Hello all! Another issue. 2000 Wrangler TJ 4.0 5 speed. When the engine is warm/hot and you shut it off (you know, to go into c-store and get something cold to drink), when you go to restart it, have to try two or more times to get it to start. I have done some reading on where it could be a vapor lock (heat soak?), faulty CPS, all the way to faulty fuel pump. This is my Dad's jeep, and I am just driving to see what needs fixed/repaired. I have had it for 2 days, and I can say that this feels more like the fuel "isn't there" when I try to start when engine hot. I try a couple of times to start and on the 3rd try she fires right up. Almost like it needed primed for a lack of a better word. For the vapor lock (heat soak) I have read about the heat shield wrap. Even if it doesn't cure the issue, is that still a good idea to do? And if it doesn't cure the issue, is there a way to trouble shoot the others. There is no check engine that comes on. I can't say that I have noticed it running/idling rough. Yes, if you don't have a heat shield it's most likely vapor lock. Later models came from the factory with a heat shield on top of the intake manifold.
Check and monitor your fuel pressure. Schrader valve on the fuel rail to a gauge poking out of the hood.
Get a DEI heat shield for your fuel rail.
