It's funny to think that there are cars out there that folks have never even heard of. I'm aware of the Knox, Chandler, Paige, etc. The list of now defunct U.S. auto manufacturers goes into the hundreds. That Knox is an absolute beauty!
I had never heard of Knox. Pretty car. I really love the mechanicals of it. I found it funny that a 496 ci is the "baby 6". I know guys that have paid big money to find 496 ci.
Also, that guy said she'd run 70+. I seen those wooden wheels doing the wobble. I aint ridding in it at 70.

Yep, I was watching the wobble, as well. For a minute there, I thought it was a Jeep!

That low end torque, slow running motor!! That sound!! Just does something for my soul that high revving never has. Gotta love the total loss oiling! Definitely my kind of car!

This rig was in the Tin Can Tourist Route 66 Caravan that took place to celebrate the 100th birthday of Route 66. Check out the swamp cooler in the passenger window. If you are not familiar with them, you put water in them and every so often you pull a chain, which wets a pad and the velocity of the moving vehicle blows cool air on you thru the window. They are popular out here with the VW Beetle guys.
Somewhere I have a late ‘50s or early ‘60s NOS 12-volt version of a swamp cooler. I bought it for my ‘61 Rambler, but never did use it. Nowhere near as cool (no pun intended) as the window style, however.
I remember those, they weren't real popular. When I was a kid I remember all the taxis here had the window cooler for the driver. The passengers didn't get anything.
Though probably not as big of a hit to fuel mileage due to aerodynamic drag...not that people thought about that back then.
For a swamp cooler to work most effectively, it needs a constant supply of fresh air with 100% exchange. For the transmission hump model, even with all the windows rolled down, it is still recycling some of the air from the interior space which reduces the efficiency because it raises the humidity which reduces the evaporation.
