Can't sleep, I'd love some feedback

Hello, I'm Chris go by Crabs lol. I'm having a hard time sleeping and I thought I'd reach out and introduce myself. I'm a previous 02 Sport (rolled/total) then 03 Rubicon. It was the first vehicle I'd ever paid off and I loved her then sold her. Anywho it's been about 10 years and it's time to replace my 15 pro 4runner for my #2 all time Jeep. LJ Rubicon/6sp!

I've been window shopping the LJ and sent out some feelers so my question is what would you do.

1. Go with a stock one owner with great service history asking $15k. Owned in AZ and CO doubt there's any rust or went off road much or ever. Will need a new top.

B. Stock 4 owner 5 service records. 70k miles. It's also a preferred color. $18k the undercarriage looks super clean but when I look above, it seems suspicious. I'll try and post a pick. Has surface rust on front fender. Advertised as garage kept. Background is from the Missouri area.

The other option is a nice looking rig in Texas with a background in Bakersfield CA. 2 or 3 owner. 65k miles asking $25,500. Sahara Rubi Edition, a desired color.
Not sure of the lift but looks like it may be Rubicon Express. It's close to the set up I want as far as utility but not necessarily suspension and tires.

Last option, keep shopping.

I plan to lift the first two right away. I'll would change the other with some time. This post is probably long enough and maybe we can get into that after I find my new baby.

That link you posted seems pretty clean, maybe a little overpriced but not much. My Jeep was from Bakersfield and the frame is pretty darn close to perfect.

You said you had a rubicon now, is that something you feel you need? If you're fine with a regular LJ, option 1 sounds like a pretty good match depending on miles and things and then you can build it however you want.

I have an 05 LJ Rubi and love it, I really like the longer length..... As the above person posted it is hard to tell what is what in your post. $25k seems a bit high to me but...... I am also guilty of paying whatever for something I really want.....There is a wealth of knowledge here and once you get your pics and posts straightened out someone will give you some sage advice.

Funny cause I recall that $15k one while looking for you...it is a manual so not for you, but looks clean but need more pics. I'd go for this one out of the posted options.

Yeah, theres a lot more manuals out there! Agreed if the undercarriage checks out that looks like a great Jeep for the price.

I think option 1 is definitely the best deal.

I think it comes down to if you can live with that color. The Texas one is just expensive for what it is, should be closer to low 20s (a lot of that dealers inventory seems expensive).

The second one I think you’d need to really check out in person. It looks reasonable, I agree the rust is a bit weird and a lot of the images are take with the most terrible lighting. The price is reasonable though.

If you want a hardtop that is around 1.5k.

New soft tops arent too expensive if the frames are in a good state.

The khaki is actually the most common LJR color so that’s good you like that color.

I agree, I really like the first option. Has a great history. Although after being in a black vehicle the past few years, darker colors are not my favorite. I really like that old man tan though. I'm working on buy bids for my 4runner with local dealerships and one of the advantages with the 3rd is I could potentially trade the 4runner into him and get the tax credits which would be about $2500-$3k. And with the blue one I may be able to convince a dealer to buy the Rubi from her and sell it to me with my trade. I'm sure they would bump the price up a grand and have to pay delaer fees. But I'd come out ahead in the long run.
