Well, as expected, my new Shittybuilt top has failed already. Now to see what the warrenty is like. The zipper around the rear window pulled out of the top and the zipper pull broke.

I bought a Quadratec top only because it was cheap and a hard top is on the long run project list. Everyone I have spoken to that is "into" Jeeps says go with Bestop and should I decide to forgo the hard top I will get a top of the line Bestop in its place.

Anyway, I also want to post that I get your handle - I have a nice DSA on a StG58 kit, and to see how Smittybilt follows up with the warranty.

So this is the same as Autozone Duralast parts... "Lifetime Warranty" as long as you own the vehicle, but you have to ask yourself, how many times do you really want to replace something like the radiator due to it failing on you?

Of course a soft top is a bit easier than a radiator, but you catch my drift, and you're a smart enough guy to know this already.

Hopefully round 2 doesn't end up like round 1.

DSA on StG58 kit...same here. Love that rifle, even though the chamber is match grade and a little tight for surplus ammunition.

Right!? I've got about $250 into the top, and I needed one desperately at the time, sooo... In the end, a Bestop frameless is probably going on when I get tired of messing with this one. And we'll all learn something from the adventure.

I've had my Quadratec soft top for 4-5 yrs now. No problems what so ever with it. Full disclosure: she usually is parked in the garage :)

I had a Bestop on my old CJ-7. I loved the design, taking the top off was simply unsnapping it and leaving the bows folded. I miss my CJ...

I've got a bestop frameless on mine and I love the look with it up and off. Downside is when I want to drop the top I have to completely remove it and store it somewhere temporarily.

My $250 Smitybuilt been on my TJ for three years now, been through three winters and on an off countless times in the summer.
I didn't expect it to be as good as it is.

Huh. The replacement top arrived today, and they sent me a whole new top including new uppers for the half doors. Kudos to them! Anybody got a set of stock upper half door frames they want to part with? Time to experiment with installing sliders!

My Bestop sailcloth top had a zipper fail on the Driver half door skin and the rear window zipper pull. Not much I can do with the half door but I just went to REI and picked up some heavy duty zipper/tent pulls for the rear.

I replaced the top on my son's 2001 TJ 10 years ago with a Bestop. Fast forward to this year, the Jeep is now mine, I'm doing a full restoration and the top is not on the list of what needs to replaced. The Bestop has really held up.

Installed the replacement top today because a window opened up where the temp got above 70 degrees and the clan abandoned me for a birthday party. Between the first and second tops there were enough ill fitting parts to make one top that kinda fit reasonably well. It'll get me through until some higher priority things get addressed anyway. Can't recommend this top. Really tried to like it, but it just doesn't fit well enough to recommend to a fellow Jeeple. Bottom line...Bestop is still the only good game in town.
