I think I had a boyfriend in college that had those same feelers. They must have made a comeback in the 80s or 90s. :facepalm:

Remember the huge diameters of the old steering wheels? Also, remember how thin they were? I always preferred the thin rims over the big, thick steering wheel rims we have these days.
this is the best and I'll add: remember when you couldn't put more than about 8 gallons in your 72 Nova because its rear springs were shot which sagged the rear end just enough to allow the gas to pour back out through the license plate when you stepped on the gas pedal or were going up hill because, GM engineering

When I got out of the service on Nov 1972, I went to the VW dealer and bought a 1973 Yellow "Super" Beetle for $1,800. It only had a few miles on it because it was their demo so I got it a little cheaper.

The pacer...my father had a blue and a yellow one as delivery vehicles, unlucky for my brothers as they turned into their first cars...the front wheel used to cave in every once in a while.
