OME Coils with Stock Shocks

Hi,

I currently run a 2 inch BB on my 2006 TJ auto with 31 inch tires(no winch/aftermarket bumpers). The upgrades are being done gradually.

I have got a set of OME coils (2932 front and 2941 rear) at a discount which are for 2.5 inch lifts as per the spec sheets.

I eventually plan to upgrade shocks to Rancho 5000x (RS 55239 and RS 55241) which are for 2.5 inch lifts .I am told that they run longer so may choose the Rancho 0-2 inch option if better suited.

Till I do that, would you recommend that I remove the BB and replace stock coils the OME coils and stock shocks.

The current BB set up is fine though some smoother suapension may help ride over bumpy dunes better.

I am contemplating regearing parallely so the shock upgrade may have to wait for 2-3 months.

You can’t run OME coils with stock shocks, as they are 2” coils and will require longer shocks. You'd need to put the Ranchos in at the same time.

You won't get 2.5" of lift from those springs.

Regardless, if you are going to disconnect the front sway bar, 31s really need front bump stop extension. That bump stop extension will let you run a longer shock. The lift will be what restores the suspension up travel that was lost from the bump stop extension.

Wondering? If he removes the 2" BB and installs the 2" OME SL isn't his net change 0. So that if he got away with it using the BB shouldn't he be able to get away with it using the springs?

I know it's not near ideal but wondering.

If the replacement springs provide the same lift as the spacers, then there will be no meaningful change before and after. The stock shocks will still have 2" more up travel and 2" less down travel compared to the what they are supposed to have.

I understand the bump stop requirement and will put them on when I do the Rancho shocks installation.

Would the OME coils be firmer than the stock ones on an almost stock jeep.

Those coils are very close in spring rate to stock. Shocks will always have a far greater effect on the ride than any differences in spring rate will.
