Loss of power

I have a 1998 jeep tj with 4.0
Driving down the road and I get on it the motor lags and looses power around 3000 rpms I've changed the cap and rotor cleaned the idle air controller tps is working .... any one have any ideas or tips that I can do or check

Could be a clogged catalytic converter which any muffler shop can perform a pressure test on to know for sure. Spark plugs good?

I like what Jerry said. I had it happen to me and it didn't throw a code. In my case it was the pre cats but the same principle.

One of my pre cats came apart internally and pieces from it blew downstream into the main cat clogging it.

I'm replacing the plugs and wires tomorrow see if that helps I need to have to catalytic converter checked next

So I finally changed plugs and wires still same issue... what are your thoughts on cutting the cat out and putting in a pipe I live in a area with no sniffer test required

You can do that, but you're going to have a permanent check engine light on. Other than that though you should be fine.

So it was running ruff last weekend so I unplugged the rear o2 sensor and it ran great after that and now I get a intermittent check engine light

Sounds like maybe it's your read O2 sensor then?

I can understand plug/unplugging the front O2sensor causing a difference in the way it runs. Not to sure about the rear one having an effect?

The O2 sensor after the cat has no effect whatsoever on the way the vehicle runs.

I agree stinger I'm not sure why either .... I'm thinking about cutting out the cat and see how it runs
