What did you do to your TJ today?

I began my Spartan Locker install. I have the axles removed, carrier removed and ring gear removed. Cleaned everything up and now need to find time to get the locker installed and everything put back together.

...and took advantage of the sale that a couple of online Jeep parts places were having on the Smittybilt SRC front bumper.

Went to go install my freshly powder coated bumper but didn't test fit before I got it painted. Thought 4 bolts, frame tie ins, simple enough right?

Savvy skid interfearing with the lower side of the bumper.

I'm thinking a cut off wheel is my best option basically trimming the bumper then hitting the exposed metal with rattle can. Any other ideas? I thought about a BFH and heat but there goes the powdercoat...

Might be a bit sketchy, but can you unbolt the gas tank skid, lower it an inch, slide the bumper on, and then bolt the skid under the bumper lip? You would lose a quarter inch of height on the skid though.

after walking away in frustration and just taking other look I think that is what I’m going to try first. Threads on the bolts are pretty short as is but I think I would have enough to retighten.

Dropped the tank about 2cms and it squeezed right in. Kept a floor jack under. I can't believe I didn't see this during the intial attempt

Got a full set of threads back on the bolts. All good.

Looks good, this poison spider bumper is clean looking

Cursed at it! Found a dreaded coolant leak at the tstat housing , upper hose. Changed both hoses..still leaks. Going to replace the housing, tstat, and clamps next. Just gotta find the right clamps now....pockets are almost empty :(

It does look very clean. Same one I have sitting in the garage waiting for me to get powder coated. Love the simple and clean look of it on your Jeep.

I took out the Bosch 4 way spark plugs and swapped them for OEM NGKs. The Bosch plugs didn’t look that bad or old, but throttle response wasn’t great or smooth. Now it feels like a new Jeep :)

I haven’t posted in this thread much. I got my TJ in December, and since then have done quite a few of the major maintenance procedures. I still have to do the transmission fluid and brake fluid. Pretty soon it will be on to ‘want to’ projects!
