As I've gotten older, I've been finding the Jeep a little more difficult to get up into. I can do it, I'm average height at 5'10", but it was starting to get annoying. I have Rubicon diamond plate rocker guards, so I knew any tub mounted ones were out, as I didn't want to drill even more holes in the tub, since none seem to fit the Rubicon bolt pattern. I knew I didn't want those mall crawler looking fat tubes that attach to the frame (no offense to anyone that uses those), and so the Body Armor ones fit the bill perfectly.

They mount to the body to frame mounts using the factory bolts, so no drilling or new holes, and they tuck up under the tub pretty well. But best of all, they work great as steps. Only issue I had, was because of the Rubicon diamond plate I had to clearance the sliders, and the diamond plate at the front mounts on both sides to get them to mount level, the other 2 mounts on each side fit fine. Otherwise it was a simple install and they work great.

Before anyone mentions it, I'm pretty sure these are not the last word in strength, but I didn't need that. If you do, you probably won't want these. I mean they're strong, not flimsy feeling at all, but I doubt they're meant for hard core rock crawling.

what brand?? where did you get them?? I like em!

They are these here:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NP1PPG/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I got mine from a local 4WP, because I could get them faster, and they paid the sale tax. These are cheaper now oddly enough. I paid $259 for mine, and Amazon was the same price, but it's lower now at $236.95. Of course they get cheaper right after I bought mine. I mean I just got mine last Thursday and installed them Friday, and Amazon was $259 then too.

There's quite a few on here running those, myself included. They do exactly what I got 'em for, like yours. My wife uses them to enter and exit my TJ. I use them to access the top of the Jeep.

Truth be told, they help disguise that Rubicon (or other) stock shovel of a skid plate, also.

Glad I found this thread. I was thinking about ordering them myself as I pre-maturely took the factory ones off mine the other day. I should've waited till I had a replacement in.

Anyhoo, I saw this review at the bottom of page and it worried me a tad but it appears they can install without too much extra fabrication.

Nice steps/rock sliders

The sliders came packaged very well. Built heavy good welds and excellent finish. I bought these because they are bolt on and did not want to drill a lot of holes in my frame and do not plan on rock crawling. The end result was a great look, some added protection and works good for steps which is the main reason I purchased. In my case it was not
a simple 15min bolt on as was supposed to be. I own a 2003 TJ Rubicon just like the one shown with the sliders mounted in their add. If you do not own a Rubicon or have Rubicon factory rock guard mounted on your TJ then this should not apply to you and should be an easy bolt on. BUY THEM. However the pair that I received was hitting the factory rock guards in multiple places when trying to mount them. I had the tools and know how to resolve the issues but you may not. In the instructions it does say you may need to add some washers to act as shims for leveling but in order to shim mine enough to clear the factory guard I would have had to purchase longer bolts and use more shims than anyone would want to use. The more you shim the more they get flimsy. I contacted the Body Armor co. and was told my factory rock guards was the issue even though their add shows them mounted with the same guards and was advised to trim/notch my factory guards. I chose to cut off a few corners from the mounting flanges on the steps rather than my much more expensive factory guards. So after trimming and paint touch up it took several attempts to get the correct shim combination to get them straight and not rub the factory guards but good when I was done. On a TJ without the factory Rubicon rock guards these should be quick bolt on and very sturdy.

I did have to grind the diamond plate raised portions a little bit to make them more flat in a few spots and try to bend it with a big hammer, but that was only in a few spots, and that was underneath where the diamond plate mounts to the body. And that was only the forward area. It sounds much worse than it was. They fit before I did anything, but they hung down slightly more towards the front, and it bugged me, so I did what I did, but again, it was pretty simple and straight forward.

If you install them and run into what I did, you'll see what I needed to do and why. Oh yeah, and I did have to notch this area slightly, you can see on the left side of the pic. Since every Jeep is probably slightly different, these may fit with nothing done, or in my case, very minor fitting mods. I'm still liking these a lot, and think the extra effort to have them fit as I wanted was totally worth it.

Thanks for the compliment. The Wheels are Mammoth Boulders. I got them from the only place I think you can get them, Extremeterrain. They make them all gray, all black, or both with the fake bead locks like mine, so yeah they're fake.

I should note too, that the passenger side required nothing to fit straight, I only had to do this on the drivers side for some reason. If you get these, put them on a floor jack and raise it up when installing. They're too heavy to just hold up on your own when trying to mount them.

Some people say that factory diamond plate is weak, but you'll realize it isn't when you're trying to bend it.
