Engine temp gets to be around 230 degrees

I'd check the radiator cap, even new ones can be bad and cause this. On my Jeep when it runs hot the radiator fan starts to very obviously roar. If yours isn't making noise the fan clutch might be getting weak. The grill is just fine, you have a 190hp fan that does not care one bit the size of the grill openings.

I don't really buy the idea that blocking the grill openings to whatever degree makes no difference. The fan is pulling air through the grill openings. If you restrict them, that will restrict the amount of air being pulled in.

Sure it makes some difference, the engine has to work a tiny bit harder to pull the same air. You aren't limiting the air, you are just increasing the load on the fan. It is an important difference.

I think your "angry" grill is the cause. You should remove it immediately. If that doesn't solve the high temps, it'll still a be win for you.

On a physics level maybe, but 20 degrees worth of work more, that is quite a bit of extra power to move air that can easily be pulled from anywhere around the fan

X2, a damaged or missing fan shroud can cause overheating when idling or at low speeds. The fan shroud is incredibly critical to good cooling characteristics.

Yes, I cut out the inlets on the grill, air flow is better, temperature is working really better in the normal operating temperature. Thank you all so very much and I will continue to monitor my gages.

They look great but aren't worth ruining a great engine!!! I learned my lesson.
