Does anyone have any experience with this tie rod? It's beefy, I got it for free, and it's just sitting in my garage.

My first choice would obviously be to go with the Currie setup but unfortunately I don't have five bills burning a hole in my pocket right now, so I'm contemplating just upgrading the tie rod. Any thoughts?

With that tie-rod being so big in diameter, doesn't the weak link now become the tie-rod end itself (since it reuses the stock tie-rod)?

I don’t know. Maybe. On the other hand, it should be less of a chance of bending or breaking it. There is arguably a lot more force/leverage on such a long bar than on the short tie rod ends.

Eventually I want to get the Currie, so this would be more of a (free) band-aid until then.

If its free and it wont negatively effect performance, run it. Your end goal isn't this product anyways so if it bends or you damage tie rod ends, o well.

Just don't be driving into any rocks and you'll be fine.

Oh no, was that your Jeep? Spotter probably deserves a smack upside the head... lol

Truthfully, I’ve done the Rubicon Trail on 35’s with stock steering components and didn’t have any issues. That said, I try to avoid known problems before they happen.

I don't see anything wrong with it to fix a bent OEM tierod. But I wouldn't necessarily buy one either as I'm not sure it actually solves any problems.

Check that the larger diameter clears everything else at full bump and full lock.

Lord , that thing oughta do it . I’d run it . Might need new springs on front so it doesn’t nose dive from the weight.! 😄

I run the Steinjager version of this. Haven't had any issues yet. I'm not sure why they build these for the factory tierod ends and not the ZJ tierod ends. I'm in the same boat as you. I needed something but couldn't afford the Currie. And unlike everyone on FB I'm not interested in a crossover setup.

OEM tie rod?
Currie. It bent just enough to notice.

My Currie tie rod bent a few times but only after some pretty massive hits. The good news from that is Currie refrained from heat treating them more so they wouldn't bend under high forces like that... which prevents more serious damage upstream. A big press was needed to straighten it each time.
