This is a summary of my TPS problems. I'm about to give up because I can't figure it out.
started with the p0123 error code with an additional p0121 sometimes at random.
I put on a new aftermarket TPS. That did not solve the problem. I went back and tested my factory original with my multimeter and it appears to test out fine.
I tested continuity on all three wires of the TPS plug all the way back to the computer plug and all three have continuity.
I have good 5.12 volts to the power supply on the TPS plug. with my multimeter connected to the TPS I seem to have good smooth range of motion and voltage on the factory original GPS. I have since taken the cheaper aftermarket TPS back to the store.
I suspected that a clock spring problem so I took that out and continuity tested all the wires and all appeared good. I have since reinstalled it and unplug the clock Springs to drive around testing it like that. I also have cruise control on the clock spring.
there could actually be a clockspring problem because once in awhile my airbag light would come on and off at random multiple times while driving in the same trip..
originally I thought it was the new light bulb that I soldered into the passenger airbag switch on the floor because I know when those burn out they can cause an air bag light to come on but since I soldered in a new bulb it works fine even though it's an LED and and I believe it did fix that problem.
i then suspected a ground problem to the engine or to the TPS. So I added two more grounds coming from the firewall to the engine block and a ground from the negative battery to the fuel rail.
I then spliced in and soldered two additional ground wires going to the TPS ground wire, one near the TPS the other near the computer plug and connected directly to the negative side of the battery, the other to the firewall ground bolt.
I have not ordered the factory original TPS because it's $70 and I don't think it is the problem. But I have tried everything else I can find and researched am I about to give up.
anything else that I can try before bringing it to the mechanic or should I just break down and buy the factory original $70 TPS to try?
when I clear the code I can drive around for 20 miles perfectly or so before the code pops up and the engine starts bucking so bad it's barely drivable. Then the same code comes back. the check engine light and engine bucking started twice when leaving a stop sign and making a left hand turn yesterday it was going straight down the road at 55 miles an hour steady. the other dozens of times were just at random that I don't remember. once the check engine light comes on it never goes off unless I clear the code.
Thank you all for your input, suggestions and patience.
