Find out what ratios you have and regear the high one to match the low one.
Or do both at the ratio you want.

89grand, you've already claimed that you disagree with billiebob and no one should "listen to the advice earlier that it won't really be much of a problem", which I think referenced my post.
I think I see why.

There seems to be a debate on whether this will break something when using 4wd. I'm not talking about on pavement or even dirt, but on snow or mud. I assume that its gotta be hard on some component based on the hopping/not wanting to roll by itself at idle.

There shouldn't be one. It's only common sense that no one should want the front and rear axles turning at drastically different speeds.

No debate needed because only 89grand has any common sense and apparently knows how "drastically" different your ratios are without knowing what the ratios are.

Wait, what? Lockers are not spools, they can allow for different wheels speeds, but even with a spool, the issue is only while turning, and the tire chirps when doing so.

You are right, lockers are not spools. You are wrong if you think a locker allows for different wheel speeds when it is locked.

The front and rear axles are locked together in 4wd, there is nothing to allow large front the rear axle speed differences.

This is true regardless of what type of differentials are used as long as there is traction.

I got ripped off, I regeared both of my differentials. I guess I would have been fine with 3.07 fronts and 4.10 rears. Well, you live and learn.

I never said you, or GnarlyMarlysTJ, should have been fine with anything. I'm also not saying GnarlyMarlysTJ shouldn't have the same ratios. I'm just saying that his TJ will probably be fine just like my CJ has been if used off road prior to getting it corrected regardless of what you have tried to convince him of.

No it is because they are locked up and the tires are binding and hopping anytime you turn the wheel. Exactly the same as with different ratios. Unless you are stupid, letting the clutch out and binding up will not destroy anything. But yes, there are idiots who can break anything too.
