Started my MML install and I’m having trouble with the driver side frame side bolt. It seems stuck. I got the passenger side loose but it gave me a scare when it popped. I thought I broke the bolt but luckily I didn’t. I’m being cautious with this one. PB blasted and shocked it with an impact. I have a cheater over my breaker bar. Still no give. I really really really wouldn’t want to break this bolt. Is it safe to use a propane torch on it in the engine bay to heat it up some? Does anyone else have any tips in this particular application?

Also I noticed my passenger mount was a bit twisted. Is that normal? I have the MML blocks and not the mount replacement.

Hmm. It’s worth a try. Or maybe I should take the pressure off the transmission bell housing.

That to. I think lifting the engine would relieve the pressure on that bolt and make it easier to remove. The engine definitely needs to be supported if it’s not supported already.

Definitely need to relieve any pressure that is on it. I would unbolt that motor mount first so it’s not another thing binding up on the bolt.

Well it’s on the driver side so I need to unbolt the whole piece including the engine mount off the block in order to undo the cross bolt because of the AC compressor. Well I actually got it moving with heat but now it’s stuck halfway thru. Hit it with heat again but I think the threads are all boogered up with rust. Can’t even tighten it back up to get it moving again back and forth. The impact has no luck either. Giving it a heavy dose of PB blaster running under the bolt head and down the threads. Just trying not to get impatient.

Heat it nice and good then spray right away with kroil or something good. The heat will draw it in. Then tighten it a bit, then loosen and repeat. If you break the bolt (I did on the passenger side) you will just have to pound what is left with a sledge to bust the welded nut loose.

you can cut that bolt out and then install a new one back to front so you don't have to take the entire mount off

This^^^.
And I hope you are supporting the engine under the bell housing. Raise to relieve pressure on the bolt. No, the twisted passenger MM is not normal. Looks like you need a new one. I’d pass one to you, but they’re already on another forum members rig.

Definitely need to lift the motor a bit to remove the bolt. Not only to relieve pressure on it, but to support the engine when the bolt is removed! I think I'd hang it from above using a chain hoist or come along.

The yellow paint is interesting. Is it something from the factory? Mine had that too

I actually plan to cut out the crossbolt. But that not my issue at the moment. It’s the bolt that holds the mount to the frame.

My concern is that it’s so far down in the engine bay that I’ll have trouble punching the broken bolt out of it breaks. Also it would be incredibly difficult to fish a bolt to the other side of the mount perch to tighten the new hardware.

You definitely have to lift the motor to relieve the pressure to get that bolt out. Mine came out easily, however it was installing the new mounts that was the difficult part. Good luck

You need to either put a jack under the engine or use an engine hoist to take the pressure off from the bolt. It will never como out if it has the weight of the engine holding it down.

Not sure if we’re all talking about the same bolt. I realize the cross bolt cannot be removed without relieving the pressure off the bolt. But the bolt I am having an issue with is circled in green. I broke it free and got it spinning then it got stuck about midway through removing it. I can’t even tighten back down.

If its spinning, a thread section might be gone. I cant remmeber if the nut is welded in the mount, i would try put a but of pressure from the bottom to see if it catches on some thread and you can take it out.
