I think I'm missing a bolt and maybe this is the cause of a whistling noise I'm hearing. It's on the intake manifold.
Possible bolt missing from intake manifold?

hard to tell from the photo but if that is the furthest forward point on the intake manifold there should be a bolt there (if i recall correctly). The bolt head (captured washer?) should hold the intake manifold tight on the right and the exhaust manifold on the left tight to the block. not only would this potentially result in a whistle from the intake but judging by the exhaust gas marks on the gasket by the exhaust manifold youve probably got a substantial ticking as well yes?
No ticking that I can hear? And the motor runs good and has no codes. I did have a high idle and replaced the tps and iac valves though. I tested for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner and couldn't find any.
on mine it’s definitely a bolt and not a stud. Some of the others are studs, but not that one.
From what I've seen online looks like 4 studs on the bottom and the rest are bolts.
Your correct, I forgot the inners were bolts.
Size should be 3/8-16 grade 8 and about an 1-1/4 long if I recall
Ok replaced bolt with one from dealer and it went on really tight after the first 4 or 5 turns, it didn't seem cross threaded though. Idle still high and still getting steam whistle. I found the back top bolt wasn't even have tight it's really hard to get a wrench on. Gonna get some swivel ratchet and see if I can tighten it. Fingers crossed that this is the problem.
