It's NOT a Jeep thing

I know I'm jumping in the middle but this is a fact-

For a long long long time Jeeps were oriented toward male owners, and were bare bones utility vehicles, not considered practical for daily transportation.

To sell more vehicles you have to sell them to more people.

I totally commend FCA for accomplishing what they have... No one has ever taken something that had such a small niche and turned it into what they did. Not even close.

In my mind a four-door gives the owner a vehicle with the looks and capability Jeep is famous for with the cargo space and amenities of more modern vehicles. Yes there are trade-offs, and it's only logical as you go toward one direction you tend to get away from the other...

But nobody needs to kid their self.... The newer models are extremely nice and capable vehicles.... many of those owners laugh at us for riding around in these relics.(tongue in cheek)

In our view , we see these as jeeps that are much truer to the original DNA , owner friendly and fun, and they may see them as small, outdated and uncomfortable.

Now I'm going to add this... Many of us are holdouts... Like the original Harley riders. But we know when something is good, it's good.

The reason a lot of those young soccer moms don't want to wave, most proper married women just don't wave at other men ...and that's not to say there's anything wrong with your wife or daughter if she does ...but a lot of women just aren't comfortable with that.

Plus, a TJ man is so manly , so rugged , so downright handsome, most women are just purely intimidated. Always remember-

"There's something women love about a TJ man" 😊

I love to hike my britches up and tell my wife that .

I had no Jeeps. I didn't understand. Now I have two Jeeps (TJ+JK). Only now do I understand. It sometimes is a Jeep thing, but we don't at first understand. At first, my wife didn't understand. But after a summer with the top off, she now understands (Jeep top not her top, just to clarify :giggle: ).

IMO, the best answer to the OP is "a Jeep doesn't have to ride rough on the road", as was said right off the bat.

P.S. we can look down at the JK(U)/JL(U)'s, and the YJ, CJ, and Willys guys could do the same right on up the chain. But why? All variants in the evolution of the original have something cool and exciting to offer. All have their pros and cons, depending on what the owner is looking for. What Jeep did with the JKU/JLU, and now perhaps the JT, is genius. They are killin' it by making vehicles that appeal to the masses. A 2.0 Turbo and now a diesel. And the old faithful 3.6 NA motor is more reliable and capable than some think. I'd even like to see Jeep come back with an XJ-like SUV on the JL platform. 3 row seating and more soccer moms will sign right up, LOL.

I say wave if you want to wave. Buy a Jeep if you want to buy a Jeep. Everyone has an opinion on what is considered a serious Jeep or serious Jeep owner. Not many people care one way or the other. Less should care what other people think, either. Too many butt hurts in this thread.....

I don't think most of us (at least me) is condemning Jeep for building the JK. What we (I) am saying is the JK was built for an entirely different demographic than everything before it (in the CJ/Wrangler blueprint) and that the habits of the newer buyer is quite a bit different than the other previous models. Therefore the things that make it "a Jeep thing" have also changed.
It has become almost a parody of itself. They were never intended to be soft and fuzzy machines.
And I give credit to Jeep for finally getting it into the mainstream market. If it hadn't it is highly likely the platform would no longer be around. And 90% of the aftermarket wouldn't be around either. On a way the soccer mom has kept the Wrangler alive. And all those aftermarket companies offer the TJ parts and products because of the JK.
But it is stil not a "real Jeep" (at least to me) when it has four doors. A two door JK still retains enough DNA to keep most of the original design alive.
I feel if you want four doors there are many (several made by Jeep) options that make more sense for that soccer mom to drive. But I am a dinosaur. I don't think an automatic belongs on a "real Jeep" either. Locking front hubs do. Again, I'm dinosaur.

Help me understand this.

So it’s a bad thing to get women interested in driving Jeeps?

What’s bad/upsetting about soccer moms driving Wranglers?

IF they want to drive a Jeep it's a great thing! "You wouldn't understand," was aimed at the people that have said they "Would never drive a Jeep". I do have some difficulty from time to time with the English language and should have added those bolded words earlier. While some soccer moms haven't said it, some have and most women with purse puppies have said it LOUD and CLEAR.

I would much rather see a woman in a Jeep than a guy.

So would I. I'm even OK if it gets me labeled as a sexist for saying it but not feminist. You can be whichever YOU want to be.

I wish my mom had driven me around to soccer/football/baseball or whatever sport practice in a Jeep back in the day instead whatever YOU feel a mom should drive.

Again, I hope my bolded words showed what they have said, not what I feel.

I believe your, “Jeep Thingis preferreing to wave at guys in Jeeps. 😂 Correct me if I am wrong

A wave is part of a Jeep thing but not THE Jeep thing.

Is there something special one has to understand to be able to buy one?
Maybe it is a “Jeep thing” and all the ones I own and work on, I still dont understand. Help me understand.

The only thing they need to understand is that a Jeep is a Jeep. It's when they want a Jeep that is more like luxury sedan that I could do without.

You're not that stupid, are you?

While that wasn't aimed at me, I will ask, WTF are you, butt hurt?

As my grandmother used to say, "whores wave, ladys wink." ;)

I asked my wife if she waves when she drives the jeep and she said she does, so I told her that I guess that makes her a whore. She said she couldn't care less.
