Cat Back Exhaust for LS Swap

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good cat-back exhaust for a 5.3 V8 in a TJ? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I have the best suggestion you're going to get.

Take it to your local exhaust shop and have them build you a cat back. It will be cheaper than anything you can buy online (if such a thing even exists), and they will have it done in a matter of hours. This is the way to go, believe me.

You'll spend around $200 to $300 and it will take them 2-3 hours I would guess.

I have been to 3 exhaust shops in my area for quotes for a complete exhaust system from front to back. One said over a thousand and the other two said about $900 was a good place to start and they would probably need to keep it for a day or so. There aren't many exhaust shops left in my area.

I have the exhaust from the donor vehicle and have figured out the rest of the materials I need to get it through the Y pipe and to the muffler. Fabricating the exhaust is no problem. It is the physical size of the muffler and through-put that I am mostly concerned with. There are plenty of pre-fabricated cat back systems out there. I was hoping somebody who had done this might have a recommendation.

I went to a muffler shop to get a quote for removing the factory muffler and replacing with a thrush, they quoted me $600.

I then ordered the $25 muffler and bought a welder. Ended up costing more since I bought a really nice helmet but I now have a welder and all the gear.

I kinda did the same thing. I have been wanting to weld stainless and aluminum for a long time so when I heard the estimates from the muffler shops I splurged and bought a mig welder. I don't have enough power at my shop so I have to plug the mig welder into my Miller Bobcat 250. Works great.

That's insane. Three times now I have had the entire exhaust replace from the cat back, and each time it was no more then $300, including a new muffler. Someone was trying to take you to the cleaner!

WHAT!? That's absolutely absurd. Was this for an exhaust from the headers back to the tailpipe? If so, they are trying to take you to the cleaners and then some. At most I could see it being $500, but I've had mine done multiple times and it was never more than $300.
