I may be a little late to this thread but here is my question. I saw a comment earlier in the thread that a manual transmission with 3.73 gears and and 33 inch tires would be slow and 5th gear is essentially useless. I have a 2003 sahara with 206,000 miles and I am in the wishing/ planing stages at the moment. Its currently on the stock setup with 30X9.5x15 tires. I love the look but since everything must be worn out anyway would like to go with a 2.2.5 inch OME lift and slightly larger tires but I need to be able to go roughly 80mph up a 3% grade ( for about 50 miles) without it being a dog on the highway. will I be able to run 31 or 32's without a re-gear? Thanks in advance for the input.
I have a 2.5L manual on 31s and 2.5” lift plus aftermarket stuff that adds a lot of weight. I go to school in the mountains and I am in the far right lane fairly often. However, I do not let the engine rev too high since I don’t want to over heat. I could draw out 3rd gear but I’d rather just go slow. I have 4.10 gears already in mine and 4th gear cannot maintain my speed when going through the mountains

I have a sahara 4.0, 5 speed manual stock gearing and it pulls 32s pretty good on the highway, not as great as 30s or 31s but 33s you will loose 5th gear in any hill climb or higher elevation. I've had 30 tires, 31s, and 33s on two different TJs and my personal preference are 32s with stock gears for the mix of driving/trails I do.

Old thread I know, what brand tires are these?

Here's my TJ with the 2.5" OME lift and 31" tires. I know you asked for 32", but I figured this was close enough.

For what it's worth, this is the way I wish I had kept it.
I agree with the others who have commented on this one. Man, I like that. It's perfect, in my opinion. Many good looking setups posted, but this is a good look.

I was middle this exhausting process of trying to find a set of tires that aren't E rated. That led me to 31s, and eventually here to this old thread. Going from a 32 to a 31 isn't drastic, but seeing this old picture of yours has me feeling good about dropping down.

Is it possible to run 32x11.5x 15 on stock wheels woth just longer springs? Looking at a Jeep to buy and it looks stock as can be underneath..... no spring spacers visible either.

Would it rub any? I drove the Jeep and it didn’t have any rubbing at full lock in either direction. Did not try any articulation though.
Yea, suspension uptravel should cause rubbing if it hasn't been bumped properly.

Bumped properly, it will not have anything near factory up travel numbers.

Ride quality may be effected however, ignorance is bliss.

The steering stops may have been extended or wheel spacers were used to prevent rubbing or it has properly spaced wheels. If steering stops were adjusted, you may lose some factory steering capes.

As you can tell, there are many unknown variables.
