Someone stabbed my tires

I had my Jeep gone through and spare knife stolen out of the glovebox. I figure I left the door unlocked.

I was so pissed off that I stayed up late every night for the next two weeks watching my Jeep. And it payed off. I caught a duo around 1 AM trying the door and looking inside. So I went out the front door shotgun in hand and told them to GTFO my driveway. Never had a problem since then.

You just can't beat a gun for good old crime deterrence. I know it's not politically correct and guns are evil according to the media ...but the right to bear arms goes hand in hand with the right to live peacefully and protect your property.

Why? Things often escalate.

A history of police calls looks great in court , especially if you get in your car one morning and the neighbors attack you , and you shoot and kill them.

Does this happen? Yes.

Make a report , tell them who you suspect , and watch your back. At least quietly make a report . The police want that , they can't watch everything , but like he said ..in the long run it can help you .

Solid advice. I don’t often put this out there, but I’ve been in LE for 20 years and this. The system sucks for victims. Gotta know how to work it to the best of your advantage.

Document, evidence and for gods sake, don’t listen to the guys who have committed crimes or advocate it online where it’s public and admissible.

Absolutely. Didn’t need to fire a shot, didn’t even need to point it at them. Just had to display that I was willing to defend the things I have worked hard for in my life. Enough said.

What he said is a crime in his state. Do I agree? No. Again, I won’t type out what I believe to be right and what “should” be, but know your laws and limits where you live. What jives in small town Texas does not hold true in Corvallis, Oregon.

Oregon explicitly upholds stand your ground laws and has cleared countless homeowners who have shot robbers on their property citing ORS 161.219 I understand the laws of our state, and have confirmed my rights within the law with multiple Oregon state police and lawyers. Technicalities of the law stated above are is that a dwelling does include your driveway, any attached structures, a garage, deck, or pool. What I did was legal and protected.

Well said. In Alabama , our stand you ground law and no permit with open carry almost makes it the wild west ...with rednecks, 4 wheel drives and methamphetamine thrown in for good measure.

That track record of calls to the police can make the difference in that becoming a self defense case , manslaughter or capital murder.

Don't take the law into your hands , and don't do anything to agitate these type people. People that don't drive Jeeps are not to be trusted.

You live in a VERY liberal town: Hell the state police left OSU cause of the politics and perceived “racism” of that encounter.

Someone going into car/Jeep, I wouldn’t brandish. Coming into your home is different and will be considered different that’s a fact. I’ve sat on grand jury, I’ve testified on grand jury...and work in Linn County. Also, those troopers and lawyers you talked to...won’t be representing you or testifying on your behalf when it comes down to it, cops and lawyers give advice all the time (most bad, especially if they haven’t dealt with your situation. Surprise, cops aren’t law experts and most lawyers suck. Especially ones that do not try murder cases..)

Absolutely, and it has been somewhat of a difficult change coming from a significantly smaller Oregon town to Corvallis only in the last few years. I was pretty annoyed when OSP broke their contract with OSU, we will see how that pans out. Stay safe during this crazy time brother, us Oregon Jeepers are a good bunch

My entire family lives in Oklahoma, a constitutional carry state. If you don’t have a weapon on you, they’ll give you one Safest place I’ve ever been lol

I was in Detroit 25 years ago (12 Oaks Mall) and these dudes took the parking spot I was patiently flashing my turn signal waiting for the car to back out and clear the spot where I am about to park my car.
Out of the blue some thugs swooped in before I did and are all looking at me laughing. I am so pissed that I went to look for another spot and soon as they are all inside the mall, I went back and stabbed all the four tires of their cadillac. I parked from a distance and waited for them to come out, watched them thugs got so pissed. It happened for a reason.

I really do believe the old statement " if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". In our form of government, only 2 things prevent anarchy ...the police and the fact that you and I may be armed .

I am very thankful for our freedom, but the most unrecognized soldiers wear black and put on a bullet proof vest and badge to head to the office . We need to be glad they do.

Start by asking the neighbors who would be prone to doing such a thing. Your neighbors must know who it is. From there, it is up to you how you handle it. I know what I would do.

Wish it was that easy, don't you? Some people get away with stuff though just through being massive bullies and threatening to sue or raise hell with anyone who calls them on their shit.

Nobody ‘gets away’ with anything in this life, they may think they do because they didn’t get caught that moment, but the universe always comes knockin; sometimes it’s obvious, in this case perhaps the douchebag gets arrested for vandalism, sometimes it’s less than obvious, like ball cancer.

One way or another he’ll get his comeuppance.

Bad idea, you’re not the law and Karma doesn't want or need your assistance, those things operate independent of you, let them do their thing, exercise vengeance & you’ll usually only end up with a criminal record for your efforts.

I don't know if I was an asshole at the time it happened.
Their reactions before and after is "priceless" bec. that scenario made me choose a straight path in life.
