Where do the wrecked TJs go?

Do you know the name or a way to get the guy in Tennessee with the old jeeps parts? I live in middle Tn. and need TJ parts.

There's a recycler in Cleveland, TN that I've found on FB marketplace. He's more into body/driveline/wheels and not random trim pieces, screws, bolts, etc. I'll see if I can find the name when I get home.

It seems they get picked up and parted out quickly. Good news, there is a good support of parts, bad news, there is a large demand for those parts. I've debated picking up a few jeeps to part out, maybe at my new house I'll have the room.

There is one in Hopkinsville KY, but the last trip I took they had no "new" tj on the lot. The guy (worker) said they get outbid quickly and if he gets one, it is stripped quickly. They make more off scrap metal so parting jeeps is not money maker for them.
Most of the salvage yards want damn near new prices for their stuff
Knox Auto Parts (Lavernge/Nashville): $$$
Guy in Cleveland TN: $$ But he has a lot of stuff.

Facebook market place seems to be the most active even though the search feature is trash. You can copy and paste a listing and it wont show up again, or you get ads for skirts...odd. Craigslist is pretty much dead.

Early last summer, I had only had my TJ for about 5 months. I spied a TJ listed on one of the local pick n pull yards. I think it had only been there 3 or 4 days. Complete, but had been hit a little in the passenger fender so something ike that. Drove into downtown KC to the yard, paid my $2 and walked the 1/4 mile to the area that I thought the Jeep would be. Saw a frame on the ground, but kept walking. Got to the end of where it would have been and turned back. Back to that frame. The LH rear corner, green, was all that was left of the body. Same color as the TJ on the website. Yep. That was it. That was the Jeep. Was. Only the frame, and one rear corner of the tub. The heavenly aroma still hung in the yard. But it was gone, all gone! No tj! No tj sandwiches! No tj salad! No tj gravy! TJ Hash! TJ a la King! Or gallons of tj soup! Gone, ALL GONE!

I mean, there wasn't even any bones left. Never seen a vehicle picked down that far before, LOL. I just buy my stuff off ebay (from the guys that buy up the junked TJs). I don't have to lay in the mud and step in the puddles in the yard. The part comes to me, and I have choice of (usually) 5 or 6 available selections to choose from.

I did, and do, enjoy the chase somewhat for good cheap junkyard parts for my other vehicles if the circumstances warrant it. But I don't even bother for TJ parts. Never see them.

Most of the Auto Recycler's around here in the San Diego area; when you go into the yard require you to tell them what you want. They will tell you IF they have the part. The problem is there are times when it's a small part; the parts counter personnel will just say NO we don't have that part when they wont be making much on the part or dont want to go to the trouble of removing such a small part.
The Pick and Pulls where you pay an entrance fee very rarely have TJs.
In one yard the remnants of a TJ had been picked over to the point you almost didn't recognize it as a TJ.

Am I to believe that Jeeps never get into accidents?? After going to junk yards for 25+ years I very very rarely see any Jeep Wranglers in them. I have always had to try to find a part out online and usually the part I may want is either junk or sold already... Where do all the Jeeps go??
Try Davey's Jeeps in Salem Ohio, great people and lots of parts.

I have always found that they typically get bought by the businesses that deal specifically in used Jeep parts, which makes it easy to find what we need online :)

Yes, that would be awesome if it were still there. I'm also looking for one of the screws for the footman loop that attaches to the door if that's still around. I've only owned my Jeep for a month or so but OPs issue has been my cheif complaint. These small parts that you can usually find simply aren't available.

Ill see what i can do this weekend. its a actual salvage yard not a pick and pull so the screw may be a no go.. they pull parts not me. but i may have a valid argument for the cup holder.

Thanks a ton. Let me know if it doesn’t work out and I’ll just go through eBay.

It's my fault for wanting to hold on to yesterday. The future is to cheap and plastic. I don't want a ass warmer or a plastic bumper.
