Hope you're all doing well.

Was this included on both front seats by default from factory or did it vary by year? My 2004 only tumbles on the right side.

My understanding is some have both, some have one, some have none.
But I've been known to be wrong before.
I'm basically where you're at. Tried looking around for info on it.

A right hand drive model should have the passenger (in this instance, the left seat) tumble instead (curb/safe side when letting people out on the street) would be my thinking here. It didn't bother me until now that I have the time to do so...

My 2003 only has the tumble feature on the passenger side.
Which is my driver's side over here in Australia. I'm thinking they didn't bother with the seats when they did the right hand drive configuration.

Anyone else with a rhd model with the same quirk?

I downloaded a build sheet for mine from the link I've seen posted somewhere on this forum. For my 2003 Rubicon, the passenger "Easy Access Tip & Slide Seat" is listed under optional equipment.

2003 Sport here, just the passenger side tumbles. But my driver's seat has the release latch on the side of the headrest. It doesn't tumble though, but it folds forward as far as it could, right up against the steering wheel.

All I can say for sure is the passenger seat mechanism is very different from the drivers. I just installed seat risers.

Mine is exactly like that. I thought there was something wrong with the bracket as the lever are identical on both seats.

Okay, so at least my seat isn't broken. Always a bonus.

My 2002 Sahara RHD does it on both sides but I think the cable in the passenger side has snapped, I have to reach under the seat and fish for this small metal leaver to tumble the passenger side but the driver side just need to pull the cord near the headrest

My 98 is LHD but works the same way. Both sides have the loop that comes out of the side of the seat; but in order to get the driver's side to move forward; the metal lever under the seat has to be lifted (or pushed I dont remember).

Thanks all. Just saw that lever...Tumbled 👍.

There is this metal bracket(?) though...The only annoying thing left to do on this TJ. I got time now to attend to such crap. 😂

My 2001 Sport has the same setup as your Sahara; left side has the cable and right side has the small metal lever.

The lever needs to be pushed down. My lever is on the passenger side; the drivers side has the cable.

It isn't a year to year thing, it is an option. For example my 2004 LJ had fold and tumble on both sides but I replaced them with 2004 Columbia Edition seats which do not tumble on the driver side.

Both sides have the cable on mine but its snapped somewhere on the left side. I'm assuming because it got tumbled more being the passenger side of the vehicle.

2002 Sport - Passenger Side only

Question: anyone know where I might find a new plastic lever for the passenger side seat that flips up the seat? Mine broke off from years of use after the strap on the seat gave out and ripped
