I got this ground after I took out the tranny to replace the clutch. Put the thing back in and the gauges are jumping around like crazy after trying to start it. Looked around and saw this ground near the starter:

comes out where the starter wires come out. Where does it go? I know it goes on the back of the motor somewhere but can’t figure it out.

Either to the stud for the dipstick bracket on the engine block or the firewall, depending on how long it is. Assuming 4.0

Is there a firewall tapping to the right (facing front) and below where the heater hoses enter the cab. also where does the other end terminate.

I believe on some years there is a ground wire that comes out of the same harness as the primary wire for the starter that bolts to the engine block right above the starter...look for a void(open bolt hole) that looks cleaner than other the rest of the block indicating it may go there...I think there is another ground that goes to the firewall above that. been a while since I've been under there.

I know it goes on the back of the motor somewhere. I just put it between my starter and the block and everything started to work fine 😂

If possible, instead of between the starter and block, pull the bolt all the way out and put it under the head of the bolt.
