Your opinion on my suspention

I just purchased a 05 lj. It came with 32 inch tires that rubbed when in a full turn. It has 2 inch spacers above the shocks. It also came with Rancho shocks and swaybar disconnects. I will include a pic. The trans. case skidplate on bottom has 1 inch spacers.It seems to have bumpstops on top of bumpstops...I had 31 inch Dick Kepick trail country tires installed..I believe that what I have is the inexpensive minimum requirements for clearing 31 inch tires. I have a few questions and no one around here to ask, so......Whats up with all my suspension travel being taken up by bumpstops? I've read I shouldn't need a sye or trans. case drop with just 2 inches if lift on LJ and I wonder why mine has the drop..I am going to keep the 31's and I think 2 to 3 inches of lift but I wonder if a lift kit with new springs would be more effective...Would I need giant bumpstops with a proper lift?....How about a SYE and driveshaft for 2 inch lift on a LJ?Anyone with a similar setup's opinion would be appreciated. I've been out with the local 4x4 club and they are a bunch of old farts that have a lot of geo trackers and jeep wagoneers and just don't have answers to my questions...

2" is ok for 31's. but a deep back spaced rim might still touch/rub at full turn.

the coils spacers do limit available up travel, but if your shocks not in a position to reach and use it, it's moot.
those bumps set as is appear to allow 4-5" of travel. (you don't count the rubber snubber end). removing the springs and cycling the suspension is the proper way to establish your travel range.

2" on an LJ should not require a 1" TC drop. and is not yet in the realm of having to have the SYE and DC driveshaft.

1st: does this Jeep have a motor mount lift installed? pics if your not sure, we can tell.
same with your body mounts, is there a body lift present?

I have an ljr with 2” and 32s. It rubbed at full lock turning right. I added one washer to the turn stop and all is well. I do not have a transfer case drop. You do not need a lift at all for 31” tires.

Don't think my jeep has body or motor mount lift,I will include pics....skid plate only had 4 spacers, I added bolt with washers to center positions. I first thought all tj's came stock with spacers, and it would be nice to get rid of them..

no MML or BL present. and that's a massive drop.

you could loose the TC drop and replace that with a MML.....a BL compliments the MML keeping the fan should located correctly as well as a free inch of lift that does not effect the suspension, should you desire.

the next items you might want to confirm the presence or absence of is a TC shifter linkage drop or a steering shaft riser block (< odds are favorable this is not present but be sure). those items would require some rework to fit everything back neat.

I'd pull the skid drop and check for vibes. No vibe, leave the drop off. Next find out if this is the height you want to run. Tire rub in a turn is from wheel backspace not tire size so much. Tire rub in articulation is tire height not so much backspace.
Measure where the shock sits at lift height. Then determine max and min shock length to see if those shocks are ok.
I'm on a small screen, but didnt see any bumpstop installed on your front.
If this is the height you want to have then going to a spring lift instead of the spacer lift is the way to go.

I waited till I returned to .ca. with the jeep to work on it...The skid plate was really bent up from hitting rocks and I think the spacers were to lower it down to normal position..I purchased a perfect used plate and installed it without the spacers...No vibration with or without....Thank you for your input...I have a question about springs and I'm not sure if I should ask it here or start another thread so people will see it, so I will ask a new question later....Thanks again for your time....Funny, I purchased a new 87 yj and had it only a few years and wasn't into jeeps again till now...
