What is the v-brace behind my TJ grille called and is it even necessary?

The ‘v’ brace behind my Tj’s grille is very rusty and an eyesore. As nice and clean as the engine compartment is I’m surprised but what’s it actually called, is it a replaceable part or should I just remove it? Trying to find it on line with no luck.
 
It's a structural support.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's part of the grille assembly.

V brace. It supports the top section of the grill and adds to the structural rigidity. The shell is fairly stiff except for the opening where the radiator is cut in. The braces holds the top section up fairly nicely.

You can also mount a transmission cooler to it if you have and automatic.

From my observations, the early models are a solid metal brace which doesn't rust as easily, the 05-06 is a hollow bent pipe that seems more prone to rust.
 
Also, at this time of year when it’s close to 100° with really high humidity my gauge will read near 180° in stop-and-go traffic like in town or slow putin’ around some trails or forrest roads. Cooler times of the year its 160° or below.

My gauge sensor is in the pan.
