33x12.5 tires with 20 inch wheels?

So I've been toying around with this idea ever since I saw someone turn an old muscle car into a (low for a dune buggy) dune buggy. They had beautiful large A/T tires and large wheels and I absolutely loved the look. I'm installing a 3" teraflex spring and shock kit this week to give my wheels a little more room to play. I have 33x12.5 tires with 15x8 wheels and I love them, but I'm curious how a 20" wheel would look. Anybody ever try it? Would it give it a modern accent or just completely goof the whole rig?

I wouldn’t do it, I don’t like the look, but it’s your jeep so do what ya want.
If you wheel it I definitely wouldn’t do it. Takes too much of the sidewall away

Yeah I'd definitely hold onto the wheels I have on now for wheeling, but I guess I would think of these as more of like "show wheels" for driving on the street and going to meets and stuff. Keep in mind this is purely hypothetical. I do not actually have money or storage to at the moment to make that work, but for the future I'd be curious how it looks and if anyone has ever done it.

Haha I totally get that. I never really liked the whole low profile look until recently and this is mostly just out of curiosity. As far as if I'd actually do it, that's a huge money gamble on whether or not it would look good and I don't have the purse to place that bet.

Yeah definitely not my taste, but he wanted to see what the 20" rims would look like.

Besides the grill cover thingus I don’t hate the black one for some reason, I wouldn’t do it but I don’t hate it. The other one though, I hate it, probably the black rims, I have a dislike for black rims on jeeps (disclaimer: I put black rims on my first build of my jeep)

I’ve never liked that style and certainly don’t think it works on a TJ... however I saw a lifted JL on a dealer lot with 20’s and I really liked it, maybe there’s something wrong with me.

I don't think gargantuan wheels look good on anything, but that's just me. I don't like the current high beltline fad either.

1. I checked with @AndyG and it is permitted under the bylaws with the strict instruction that dubs or bigger must be accompanied by an angry bird grill.
