72 CJ5 Renegade Wheel Question

Hello All

I'm working on gathering parts for my 72 CJ5 Renegade resto and have a wheel question for those that may know. I understand the CJ era had 15x7 and 15x8 wheels. I'm trying to locate a set of the original aluminum wheels that my Renegade would have had when new and I'm not certain on what width it would have had. Were they 7" or 8" wide on these?

Brother I have racked my brain for the last 30 minutes. The best I can recall they had 7 inch wide wheels. Don't quote me on it, but that's what's stuck in my mind.

I'm thinking that's what they were to as that's all I have found as far as the OE correct aluminums and I haven't found many of those at all sadly. I just thought I remembered something about a difference in widths from the change over from narrow track axles to wide tracks

Unless it's been swapped out, the wide track were only in CJ 7's I believe.

Correct that's what I have found as well. After 1982 I think. I found a set of them that are supposedly off of CJ7 Levi's edition. He did confirm they are 7" wide so it may have been an earlier CJ7 they came from.

I had it in my mind overthinking it I guess that the narrow track axles like mine would have probably had a 8" wheel and the move to 7's was during the wide track switch. For the price of these things nowadays I for sure sweat the details

I see and know how that goes lol. You cant just have one. I have already been grooming the CFO around here about the future prospect of a CJ3b or maybe a J20 Truck once the CJ5 is rebuilt.

Don't rule out a CJ2A either......
