Suggestions on new tires and wheels (33x12.50R15)

Hi All - I upgrading my 2006 LJ 6spd. Finishing up a lifting to a 2.5 OEM with a 1.25 JKS BL and looking for some suggestions on Wheels and Tires. I'm looking for 33 x 12.5 on 15 rims.

The Mammoth has some good recommendations and nice backspacing:

As for tires - I'm pretty stuck. I use the jeep as a daily driver and spend quite a bit of time on road. I'm looking for something that's great all season (Dealing with Snow in the North East) and nice to off-road with while being comfortable on-road for long trips and highway miles.

Some suggestions I've received:

- Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP

- BF Goodrich KO2 A/T

- Goodyear Duratrac

I'm trying not to get caught up in marketing as all the online retailers have different suggestions. I've heard mixed reviews on the KO2s (was originally looking at these) - some have mentioned the tire pulling. I'm not sure about the Dick Cepek but know they're a Mickey Thompson tire (anyone have experience?). Any suggestions or experience would be helpful - also any other nice wheels feel free to post - I like the Moab style or similar.

Those Mammoth wheels are excellent quality. I had them on my Sahara. I had the DC extreme country tires on my XJ and loved them. I bought them with a $200 instant rebate. I'm going with them again when my Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 tires wear out. My brother runs the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W and really likes them. A very good street/snow tire.

I don’t know your version of off roading but if it includes deep mud (goo) at times and deep snow (at times) you want something in the mud tire category. Any of the A/T will cake and clog badly.

Being in the northeast myself I run into all things minus slick rock. Hence I always run a mud tire and trust me when I tell you the selection of mud tires has never been larger.

My recommendation for you in a good Northeast off road/on road tire is....

I might buy another set and get rid of my steel wheels. They took almost no weights to balance perfectly too. I have a slightly bent steel wheel now.

I would also recommend the Quadratec Rubicon Xtreme. Comparable price and they have a great OEM finish option. Sorry I don't have better pics yet!

That's the best part. I can afford those. I ditched my stock 16" Rubicon wheels and MTR/K tires soon after buying it. An E rated tire with a stiffer Kevlar sidewall makes a harsh ride. I aired them down to 25 psi for 31's and they still rode bad.

I've had the bfg ko2's on previous jeeps before and really liked them. Nice and quiet with good road manners while still handling well in slippery conditions(snow/ice and rain). plus they last forever

Ill throw the Cooper at3 xlt into the mix because I never see anyone talk about these here. I recently purchased a set and love them so far. Great road manners, not so sure about snow yet since we havent had snow yet in Washington(although I've read online they do well) but have performed admirably in the rain. Pretty good traction off-road for a not so agresive tread pattern. They'll get you through some mud pretty well for an all terrain(I'd imagine the tread blocks on the shoulder and sidewall help a bit)

Thanks Applesack - I was interested in the KO2's originally. I don't understand what "pulling" means but heard that from DPG off-road. I'd be interested in others experience with the KO2s since they have good reviews. Also heard good things from DPG on the Cooper AT3s you have.

I just finished the DPG OME 2 1/2" lift without BL and put on the Mommoth 15x8 wheels with General X3 MT 33x12.5. Only had them on a few hundred miles but like the set up so far.
