Should I buy this LJ?

You better hurry. Good Jeeps go fast. Good luck.
p.s. I took a hit on my old 03' in the exact same spot. The lady was going 50 mph when she hit me while I was turning. I had mine fixed like new for around $5,000 from the insurance company. I only had 27,000 miles on that Jeep. I sold it a month later for $13,500.

oh believe me, I’m gonna move as fast as the insurance company gets me my check...and yeah this is all hinging on my Jeep being totaled. It’s very possible, like what you’re saying, for it to be fixed under insurance. But considering the last TJ I totaled had a worth of about 8-9k, and they totaled it because of 5k of work, I would assume they’ll do the same here, as the value is pretty much the same as well. We shall see I guess

Definitely sounds like a winner. I'd say you have 3 weeks tops before someone else picks this up. I guess all you can do is wait since the insurance companies never seem to be in any hurry.

Exactly. I’m hoping he just continues to get low ball offers. I’d be willing to pay 14k for it if given the chance, I’d say it’s well worth it not just being an LJ, but a rubicon as well. I’m dying for the insurance company to give me more info lol

If you trust the seller, offer him a deposit to hold it. You could offer to let him keep a percent of the deposit if you don't buy it. Say $1000 deposit for a month, he keeps $200 if you back out. If he doesn't NEED the money, he might work something out with you.

Hmm yeah that’s actually not a bad idea, I’ll have to mull that over!

Glad to hear you are ok. Can you strip any parts off the TJ before it's totaled out? Def check out the LJ. From my searched I've found that price usually tells you if there are issues.

Often it's worth doing a buy back from the insurance co if the parts are still good.

Do they let you do that in CA now? Last time i totaled a car here they said no. In WA it was no problem. But both were years ago.
Here in NY, you can, but at least with my last one I totaled, it just wasn’t worth it to buy it back then have to spend all that time parting it out lol

A friend of mine that did it: The buy back for his TJ was equal to the price of one axle and the hard top. No brainer there! He asked me if he should. I told him he shouldn't but let me buy it...

I didnt think it worked like that? well doesn't in my part of the world, decide not to go through and lose your deposit.
Seller may be a nice guy though, I have held a car on no deposit before but its while a buyer sorts out funds over a weekend.

Yeah talked it over with him, he’s totally open to it, and we both agree an email written up with E-signatures would be good enough. I’ll most likely be doing that once I get an answer as to if my Jeep is totaled or not, then if it is it’s just a wait for the check.

It’s not a bad idea at all but for me personally with was my DD so I need something to replace it and while I have savings I don’t plan to rely on that while parting out my TJ. I’d rather get the LJR I’m looking at with insurance money and some cash and go from there
