Hi All,

I am looking to redo my wheels, over time they have suffered normal "corrosion & oxidization" and its time they were given some attention.

I have a 2003 TJ Rocky Mtn Edition in Patriot Blue (pictured) and it has the OEM Canyon Wheels with a set of Cooper STT Pro’s.

My wheel & tyre guy (also my mechanic) has suggested a local custom body shop to media blast and paint them, he has a set of their painted wheels on his truck and they look really good especially since this is the second winter they have endured.

I have spoken to the owner of the body shop and he said no problem bring them in when ready and he said as long as I am not going for a “heavy” metallic look I can pretty much choose my colour.

Since I have the opportunity to be a bit creative I’m looking for suggestions (and or opinions) for a colour choice.

I don’t think black would look very good as the Patriot Blue is quite dark.

I seem to remember in a previous post where someone suggested a bronze could look really good, that intrigues me.

Suggestions and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Included is the only picture of the Jeep I have where it is half arsed clean and has the Canyon wheels on it.
Also a picture from the web from a hellcat challenger site of their “Brass Monkey” wheel colour.
And a 2016 Charger wheel, I like it but perhaps too dark? Opinions please

Cheers & thanks,

Geoff

Personally I don't think those wheels belong on a TJ. But if you must, go with the one that isn't gold flake. That looks like it belongs on an episode of MTV's Pimp my Ride.

All black is boring to me. I think you could go with mostly black as long as there is some lighter color on them. Maybe just paint the center of the wheel and spoke parts black and leave the rim or open parts unpainted. I would not go gold or bronze as I think that would look gaudy.

Bronze would look great with blue.
Bronze surprisingly looks good with all sorts of colors.

Bronze would look good.. method has a nice bronze wheel that would look super with that patriot blue.

Gents, thanks for the comments I appreciate them.
I'm the last person to be interested in pimping a ride, even though its my year round "daily driver" and I'm not the mall crawlin kind I do like to have a good looking ride.

I don't know if the goal has changed from painting wheels to replacing wheels but if you are still thinking about getting your wheels painted and bronze is the way to go, the color of the wheel you posted right below your TJ is probably how to stay as far as possible away from Pimping your Ride. The paint is somewhat dark and it's just one color over the whole thing which makes that wheel look good. I can't tell if your Canyon wheels are factory painted grey between the spokes like the Grand Cherokee Canyons were or not but some even darker bronze between the spokes could be impressive. Any lighter bronze, grey or silver added anywhere would put you in the gaudy territory.

Sorry Hog, but those wheels need the bolt heads painted black because the silver ones are just too much

On the Canyons, a solid one color white. If you're looking for 2 tone, Patriot Blue on the spokes and white in the slots.
Or vise versa.

Side note. I've got a dark blue 4Runner with matte gun metal gray wheels and it looks really good to me.
Better than the matte black I've seen.

I agree that bronze would look good on your blue color. I really like the brass monkey color but I think it would be too dark on your patriot blue.

Gun Metal (as mentioned above) would also look good. Or maybe look for a color called Anthracite.

Have fun "pimping" your ride! 😆

Hi again all,
In no way would I put those wheels on a Jeep that would be just obscene, the colours where what i was referencing.
The first colour example is my current # 1 pick the second example was never really an option just thrown up as an afterthought.
I'm searching Anthracite as I post this.
Cheers & thanks,
Geoff

I’ll add another vote for gunmetal or something similar. Shades of gray pair well with the dark blue.

Ah, I hadn't considered gunmetal etc. I like that look as well.
Strange because my wife's 300S is Ceramic Grey and I love that colour
Cheers

I’m a fan of “gunmetal” color wheels on Patriot Blue.
Funny, I have a safe full of guns, but none of them are quite that color.
