Does anyone know which of the 4 O2 sensors this code is meant for? My check engine light is on and this is the code. Can anyone help?

Does the Jeep engine feel as though it has lost power ?

I have no loss of power, do not smell rotten eggs. The Jeep has 48k on it currently.
The code came up as P0420 CAT 1

Disconnect your battery and clear the code it might not come back if its running ok.
I got both up and down stream o2 codes 6 months ago just after buying it and they have not come back.

It could be a bad catalytic converter. The way it works is that you have an O2 sensor in front of the cat and an O2 sensor behind the cat. The computer compares signals between the two to make sure the cat is cleaning up the exhaust like it should. If it doesn't see enough of a difference between the two sensors it raises that P0420 code.
I think the worst thing that can happen if you clear the code is it comes straight back.
Thank you for the info. So what are my options? I know where the sensors are I just don't know which one to replace. There are 4 sensors correct?
The Post 02 is only there to tell you your cats not functioning properly. Cheap enough from Rockauto but make sure they are NTK

Bank 1 is the front catalyst off cylinders 1-3. You have a bank 1 sensor 1(pre cat) and bank 1 sensor 2(post cat). You have the same for bank 2 which is off the rear 3 cylinders. In my experience p0420/430 usually are not bad o2 sensors but you can certainly try to change them if you like.
