Help me find a 2005 shift boot for a 6-speed manual

My shift boot has a hole in it from hitting the plastic part of the console when shifting into second gear (don’t know why, assuming it has something to do with the TC drop from the PO or some misalignment with the console).

Ive been trying to find a replacement for a while, but I am having a hard time finding one for the 05/06 models that I like. Everything I find in the style I like seems to be 97-04. I don’t like the “bag style” boots like mine has on it, and I’d like to get the rubber “accordion style” boot if I can.

Also, will the bezel/housing that I have currently still work if I’m just replacing the boot? All of the ones for the 97-04 I’ve found online say that the bezel is sold separately. Just want to make sure there’s nothing I’d need to buy to make it fit.

Did this bolt right up to the existing hardware, or did you have to buy anything additional to make these work?

That's not what the OP asked for...
He wants a rubber accordion style - and so do I for that matter, so I'm all ears. The shapeless bag style has never really greased my gears either.

Yea, I dunno about your hole situation, but I've never been a fan of the bag style either. But I haven't found an accordion style in my journeys...

I feel like I read something in another post about the shifter moving a bit with a TC drop but I can’t remember. It looks like the PO tried to move the console some because they added an extra screw to it that doesn’t belong there. For some reason it hits the console in 2nd gear. Not the end of the world tho.

Here’s one. Looks the same as the one on mine. The rubber one for the older models is cheap enough to take the gamble to by one and make it work.

Looks like you can get the aftermarket boot and bezel for about 20 bucks on Quadratec's site. If you have a buddy with an older model, you could compare the openings.

I agree the rubber boots are more appropriate for a Jeep. My YJ still has the originals.

Unfortunately the accordion style does not exist for the 2005-06 year, so I did not want to lead the OP to a dead end, and instead offered a solution to solve for the hole in his current bag, and since these bags have a myriad of design options, there could be a solution in here for the OP. Maybe not, but this would solve half his problems.

For my other manual, I searched for 6 months for a bag, nothing existed so I paid shop to custom make a perforated leather bag. Maybe you could buy the accordion style and have a shop modify it to fit the 2005-06.

Relating to this post my 05 came with no boot at all and even worse no bracket so I can't even order the redline boot because you need from what I understand a bracket that connects it to the console.. Any clue where I can get one of those?

I would check junk yards or ask people parting out Jeeps. You could probably fabricate something fairly easy if you knew someone.

I couldn’t find a rubber accordion style for my 06 so I opted for a replacement from redline. I will say it’s a quality leather boot for the money and the time it took to arrive.

That doesn't include the metal part that connects the boot to this part. It's the metal part that I'm missing that no one seems to have. I am checking local junk yards but they're are no u-pulls around me and all the places want me to buy the transmission to get the boot There is one on ebay but they want $160 for it..

For that price you may as well spend a few more bucks on a Tuffy center console, or now that I think of it, you could ask someone who installed a Tuffy center console if they are willing to sell their metal piece.

I am one of those guys, so I do have my 2005 center console, and metal piece. If interested, let me know. I am not looking for cash, per se, but would prefer to trade for something local to where you are. As an example, one time I sent speakers to a guy in Hawaii for local Kona coffee beans. So if you have any little neat things, let me know.

Yeah, the issue is I'm also in Canada so right now getting anything into Canada is a huge pain. I had tires sitting in Maine for 8 months until I managed to sell them. When that border opens up my visa is going to be hurting

Given the lack of accordion-style boots for the 05/06 model, I'll probably try the Redline custom option. Hopefully my console doesn't wear a hole in it like the current one! Thanks for the help, everyone!

I feel like I read something in another post about the shifter moving a bit with a TC drop but I can’t remember. It looks like the PO tried to move the console some because they added an extra screw to it that doesn’t belong there. For some reason it hits the console in 2nd gear. Not the end of the world tho.

Easy fix, pull shift boot up and remove the one bolt holding the shifter into the shift arm on the transmission. Take the shifter over to your hitch and shove the bottom end into the hitch receiver. Bend it a little and reinstall it. Mine was hitting because of a t-case drop that had been removed. Bent it a bit and it was perfect after that.
