No start after replacing flasher module

I was upgrading to LEDs and all worked fine, except the typical hyperflash. I replaced the flasher module with an EP27 as suggested by many. The flashers worked great, but it was like the clutch safety switch was preventing a start (clutch pedal depressed). Swapped back to the old flasher, and fired right up. Any ideas?

I'm not sure how a bad flasher relay could cause that problem without looking at a schematic but it looks like it did, so I would get another relay.

How long have you owned your Jeep ?
The previous owner may have performed some creative wiring.
I know that the previous owner of my Jeep interrupted the ignition switch wiring and installed two relays that would be activated by using the headlight and high beam power to energize the two relays allowing the starter to actuate.
I had a dealership Jeep Technician friend remove the wiring "butchery" before installing the factory SKIM module.

Did you buy the cheaper flasher relay or the one off quadratec? I originally bought the cheaper autozone one and it didn't help.

You installed a factory SKIM? Hmmm. I have been wanting to but when I learned I needed a dealer to play along I pretty much gave up. Have a friend who tried locally and failed.

Have tried2 different relays, the Novita EP 27, and another more expensive one, don't recall the model number, but it said it was for a CJ.

We have owned it for 5 yrs, but yes, a previous owner added some semblance of a security system that had already been removed before we got it.

Just seems weird that swapping out the relay would do that, since there are no apparent wiring changes near there. I will take a look in the fuse panel when I get home tonight to see if there is anything there that stands out.
