Front differential bearing issue

Hey everyone newbie here I bought a 2002 tj about a month ago and I've been gleaning info from your posts...great site btw so I have a question and thought it's time to join.
My question is prying the front differential out of the housing it popped loose at an angle and the bearing cap or race cocked up with it it didn't come off it was just cockeyed and it set right back on so is that an issue or is that normal for bearing race to be so easy to remove

How does the bearing race surface look on the housing? how do the races look? In my experience some of them pop right out and others I fight and cuss. I would say as long as it goes back together fairly tight you should be fine...it usually takes some blows with a rubber/dead blow hammer to get it set back into place

Thanks P man for quick reply. Both surface are nice i was just unsure about the races slipping off and on so easily

do you mean the races fell off the bearing easily or the races fit loosely in the bores?

I one more question my driver side acle tube was full sludge are the after market seals for outside ends help with that

Guess I should of did a spell check

Normal for races to fall right off. Inner seals are all you need. Clean the tubes out if you have it apart, if not don't sweat it.

That depends if the sludge is gear oil-based or dirt-based?

I always try and clean the tubes out..take a rag and wrap it around a broom handle and work it back and forth...dont waste money on those goofy end seals

I've found the outer tube seals to be really helpful. We see alot of mud and water on the trails so they do a good job of keeping that stuff out of the axle tube.
