Greetings,

Question on ARB locker into Dana 35 as this thread labels, although different question/issue.
BLUF: seal housing of locker going on outside of bearing will cause the bearing and race/cup to barely sit within the bearing housing/seat and cover/cap, there is no room for it to be on the outside with any shims to allow the bearing to sit with adequate contact. Or at least it seems very inadequate
I Have an 04 TJ, rear Dana 35 axle. Bought the RD102 ARB locker for the Dana 35 and 27 spline shaft. Instructions require the bearing seal (with copper tube) to sit on the outer part of the carrier, with bearing on the inside. My friend is a mechanic at a Jeep dealership, has not done an air locker before, but says this setup (and looking at it I agree) the bearing and race/cup barely sit under the bearing cap. Maybe 1/3 of the bearing is supported, the rest is just free floating inside of that towards the ring gear and carrier. Right off the bat we are like how is this going to work.
I have searched and found no specific instructions installing this locker into this axle. So I am posting the question. We are probably going to just install the original carrier with the new ring gear (regearing to 4.56 Yukon gears was the original project, I got the locker thinking while it was all apart might as well do that too) and put that back in. I was just seeing if anyone had an answer/clear-up to this, I may reattack another time.
Thanks guys I appreciate it, I have read quite a bit but I’m still very new to everything.
