Could there be damage to these axles?

I bought axles from someone, a dana 30 with 4.10s and a Eaton locker and a dana 35 with the same. The dana 30 is locked and has roughly 4.10s (haven't pulled apart to look yet) but the rear is an open diff with what appears to be 3.07. The jeep that they were taken out of was pretty smashed up like it had been rolled. But there was no damage to the body which was quite odd. But the long arm kit it had was destroyed.

Ripped all the control arm mounts off the axles and so on. I'm just curious as to if there could have been some damage to the diffs from what could have happened with the previous owner? I was shown the receipt for the regear and locker install for both axles but im starting to become skeptical. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

With the kind of accident these axles were involved in.... there is potential for damage to plug welds where the axle tubes insert into the pumpkin, slightly bent axle tube, pin holes in the axle tube where the brackets were broken off. There may be other things to be aware of that other members can advise you of...
My suggestion would be to conduct a thorough inspection of the differentials OR IF you are not comfortable with what to look for; have a friend that is knowledgeable look at them ...

If you've rotated the pinion and counted the wheel rotation and the gearing doesn't match, my guess is that you were shown the receipt for at least one different axle than what you got.

Did you buy them in person or on line?

Did you pick them up or were they delivered to you?

Did they come from a business of some sort or someone's house?

Were there other Jeeps and vehicles there? Were they in pieces?

Maybe a better question, did you pay with cash, paypal or credit card?

In person at his shop the axles were both painted yellow to match the jeep but had a ton of weathering from age. They were both still attached under the jeep and put together. As I've taken apart the rear it has posi so I've confirmed. So thats good but I have another issue the front is permanently locked. Guess I have to take that one apart too aha

The big red flag for me is that you mentioned the front was 4.10 & the rear was 3.07. Did I read that right?!! You can’t use 4X4 like that.

As the owner of a yellow Jeep, even I find that weird…

What to you mean the front is permanently locked? Is it a spool, or a Lincoln Locker (welded spider gears)?

And by posi do you mean limited slip?

The front axle has the same as the rear they are both Eaton auto lockers but it auto locked and will not auto unlock lol and yes by posi I mean limited slip.

Keep in mind there's a carrier break for certain axles. If both the front and rear axle have the same carrier yet is geared differently, you may have to succumb to either a new carrier or thick cut gears to match gear ratios. Either way, I would not be wasting my time with a Dana 30 or a Dana 35 involved in a wreck.
