Another turn signal not working question

I plugged in my trailer the other day and when I activated the turn signals I heard a weird buzz from the steering column. After the turn signals and hazards wouldn't work. Nothing shows on the dash as coming on. All the lights come on when I turn the lights on. just the blinkers don't blink. I change all the fuzes including the EP27. Am I wrong for thinking that I need to replace the entire switch in the column?

Since you checked the fuses and EP27; inspect the wiring harnesses and the MFS for signs of overheating and loose connections....

EP27 is not the correct flasher for any year of TJ. A 2006 needs either factory, or an LM470.

Other than that you may need a new multifunction switch or have some bad wiring. Fix the flasher to the proper one so that you know it is not the source of problems.

I use it because I upgraded to LED's. I have been using it for over a year with no issues. the only problem that came up is when I hooked up the trailer and plugged it into the tow wiring on the trailer.

There are caveats to it that you may not realize, whereas LM470 doesn't have those flaws (and it is for LEDs). However, sounds like since it worked for you fine overall, and it isn't causing these issues. The issues with the EP27 are weird, like sometimes the hazards will blow a fuse, and if you leave the blinker on and shut the engine off, it will keep blinking even though it shouldn't.

It is probably a bad MFS. The FSM outlines what circuits should have continuity with each other for the different multifunction switch conditions. Have you tested any of those? Or easier, you could buy and try a new switch, and return it if it doesn't fix the problem.

I checked the wiring and all the fuses. that's about it. I will run through everything tonight.
