Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

@mrblaine was kind enough to send me one of his special boxes of expanding foam. I can't thank him enough for extending his famous kindness and generosity in my direction.

I am delighted that your delicate items appear to have arrived unscathed. Kudos to our packaging team. FYI, that is not your average expanding foam. ;) That there is full encasement delicate item high protection expanding foam, 2 part, 4 lb density for the highest protection level possible in a cardboard box full of breakable items. It even floats in the event that your items happened to encounter flood stage waters during the trip.

My hope against hope is that the first box that was about to go out received the same careful treatment! 😂

Two are free from the block. I had to take a quick break before tackling the others...

I’m interested to follow the install and read your review. 👍🏼
This will be a winter project. Once I found out that the 35" MTR is now only available in a 17", I needed to get the internal beadlocks for that wheel size. That means I have to replace my current 15s. At this moment I'm looking at JL takeoffs with an adapter spacer.

Here's what comes in the bag after it gets destroyed during unpacking...

An inner tube.

The internal beadlock, which is more or less a low profile tire with a heavy nylon "tread". This lives inside the real tire, and when combined with the inner tube, is what squeezes the inner beads of the tire against the wheel, creating an internal beadlock as well as a pinch flat prevention device. There are a lot of clever things going on with this.

Also included is a sizable bag of cocaine and weird pipe.

You'll need a pretty big spacer/adapter. I'm running a 1.25" thick adapter on my JK wheels. They are backspaced from AEV at 5.25, so I have an effective 4" backspace. My new tires rub the control arms (just) at full lock.

This is the snorkel thingie that passes around the inner tube and beadlock casing to allow for inflation and deflation.

As I understand it, the old Staun internal beadlock version was filled with a Scotch Bright scrubbing pad type material that allowed air to pass through while preventing the tube from getting crushed by the beadlock. The problem was that as the rolling tire flexed, the scrubbing pad would eventually break down and crush, blocking the air flow.

Coyote's version is really clever. Instead of the compressible scrubbie pad, they use a thick plastic zipper to keep the airway open.

Were you popping beads often (often is a vague term here) or is this more or less a preventative measure?

Blaine and I were just discussing this. He pointed me towards @Midnight LJR's old set of JK Quadratec Moab copies.

These are 5.25" backspace instead of the factory 6". An 1.5" adapter would bring these to the 3.75" BS I currently have. Plus they have more of a dish than factory JK, which I like. And they are polished aluminum and look closer to the original TJ Moab wheels I used to have.

I've popped a few. People around me are popping more often as well, so it is also preventative. Plus, once the tires are locked, it's one less thing I need to be attentive to while aired down. Meaning, I can be a bit more aggressive.
