Trutrac or Powertrax no-slip

So rare that I've never heard of that problem with a No-Slip. I wonder if the person installing the No-Slip with two failures afterward simply botched up the installation.

I'm not sure. I'll see if I can find that thread.

I've been thinking about a Powertrax no-slip for my D-30 for a while but I remember a member here had a couple grenade on him. If I recall, it was a manufacturing flaw. I think that was a year or two ago though.

Has anyone heard of any more recent problems with them?
Been running a Powertrax No slip in my Dana 30 the last few years. No issues, no ratcheting sounds. Highly recommend. Best bang for the buck at more than half the price of a selectable locker.

Edit: its even cheaper than when I bought it a few years back.

This is the thread where the guy had 3 break back in 2019. 3rd one was cracked right out of the box. Cracked on the plate where the pins are pressed in.

Thanks for the feedback @Jerry Bransford and @jazngab . I've always felt the no-slip would be perfect for me with occasional mild to moderate kind of wheeling and semi-daily driver. I may go ahead and pull the trigger sometime this fall/winter. The CFO already said "you should get one." when I told her about it and what it does. 😲🤣

I use my TJ exactly how you describe your usage. Moderate wheeling (I like to test its limits without trashing it) maybe 3x/year at the ORV park. Semi daily/weekender March thru November. Maybe 4k miles/year. Would I like to have front and rear selectable lockers? Well hell yea. Did I want to spend $2k on lockers on top of the $2k to regear? Not really. So I kept the powertrax in the front. Just couldn’t justify the cost at the time.

Sounds exactly like me. I drive it through the winter here though because, well...South Carolina winters. LOL Sometimes I won't drive it for 2 or 3 weeks and then other times I'll drive it every day. It's just too much fun not to drive it. :)

The most noticeable benefit to a No-Slip in front is that it won't ratchet or click when making slow-speed turns, like in a parking lot. In 2wd it's pretty invisible.
So when in 2wd there is no noise, no locker, nothing. When in 4wd the ratchet is there but much less with a no slip ? Yes? Thanks Jerry

Do not spend the money for an ARB for a Dana 30… I have a Spartan Locker up front that I’ve been happy with. It’s a “lunch box” style.

No Slip is completely silent in 2wd and 4wd. From what I’ve read, the Spartan and other lunchboxes can make ratchet sounds in 2wd.
