Actuall, by the looks of things, you might need to review that rust on the frame before you worry about new shocks.
If those bolts are that bad, what else is worse?

How would you cut the bottom ones?
He's had extensive Safe T Cap work from what I can tell by the pics.Actuall, by the looks of things, you might need to review that rust on the frame before you worry about new shocks.

Boogieman....do you have a link for these? Thanks. You have to put vise-grips on the shock shaft under the plastic cover, not the body. Only do that if you plan on throwing them away. Your rear shock upper bolts will snap off without even trying.Use these to make replacing the nuts much easier.

I think @bromel was talking about mid left pic2?You can’t even see that frame really
I'm just going by this. That looks to me like obvious frame repair, but please tell me if I'm wrong. Anyway, it's irrelevant to your actual question; didn't mean to change the subject. You can’t even see that frame really
Did my rear shocks today and they all came off easy! I must have remembered to put antisieze last time I did them five years ago for the first time. That time was a nightmare.Wait til you get to the rears !

Well then it seems you have a repaired frame. That's good. These TJ frames are notorious for rotting out in the Northeast. That’s how the frame looks from front to rear
Thank yaIt says it's for an XJ, but they work on a TJ too.
