I know it can be intimidating to work on brake lines. Nobody wants to mess them up. It really is pretty simple though. You should get some brake line and the tools and practice, I bet you'll have it down in less than an hour.

The way it looks on the bellhousing it's probably that rear freeze plug. Do check all hoses. Put a good pressure tester on it and it'll show itself.

more than likely crank sensor. I've had many 4.0 act this way when it was on it's way out. It's what I'd do first.
