+1 for the Southern Appalachians. Western NC is amazing. Look at towns in the vicinity of Asheville. A personal favorite is Brevard, NC because of the mountain biking scene, but it's got a lot of other things going for it too.

Just a quick update - got rid of the chrome bumpers! Found a stock set for now... Still have the chrome steps...they look like they'll be a pain to remove. Need to reinstall the hitch too.

Crossing the Tallulah River on my XR650L. It’s currently in pieces in a buddy’s garage after needing to get the subframe welded after too many Colorado mountains rough roads. And the little GS I sold about three years ago. It’s over in Spain now living its best life exploring the countryside.
