Fan shroud rubbing during hill climb?

I had that happen to me on a trail when I got hung up on a rock on my trans skid which pushed the drivetrain up enough to cause the fan shroud to contact the fan, not sure if that's what happened to you possibly.

    Hard top refresh

I would hesitate to use cerakote on anything other than bare plastic. It'll likely leave streaks that may be impossible to get out once applied to your hardtop.

Tea kettle whistle during cold months (suspect a manifold leak) how easy is it to find and tighten the bolts?

You might consider doing a smoke test on it to confirm. I found this video and am getting ready to do this myself to chase down a possible leak in my vacuum lines and/or intake manifold.

Failed smog test for high nox

The thought did cross my mind. I tried to blow out each plug hole as I went but I think I forgot to on 5 and 6. It was also at an awkward angle with the heater hoses in the way which may have caused me to drag it through some dirt on the way out.

Failed smog test for high nox

Wife and kids were away tonight so I pulled the plugs tonight to see how they looked. These plugs were installed about a year ago and probably have less than 2000 miles on them. They look fine to my untrained eye with the exception of plug#5 which had a carbon like buildup. I also verified all...

Tea kettle whistle during cold months (suspect a manifold leak) how easy is it to find and tighten the bolts?

Dude if you have a mechanic only charging 70 an hour can I get those digits? 😁 Seriously that's half what most mechanics charge these days.

Failed smog test for high nox

It's already got an aftermarket cat in it of unknown age, which your right, likely will need to be replaced. What I'm trying to do first tho is diagnose and resolve my slightly high idle which I suspect is causing the motor to run rich. If I don't solve that problem first, the new cat isn't...

Failed smog test for high nox

I'm planning to pull the plugs tomorrow. They were replaced last year, but we'll see what they look like.

Failed smog test for high nox

Last night I sequentially capped off 1 vacuum line at a time where the 3 nipples are on the side of the intake manifold while the engine was running. As I capped each of the lines there was no change in rpm which in my mind tells me that I don't have a leak in any of the vacuum lines that are...

Rear main seal or valve cover leak? Your opinions on cost of repair.

You've got the right budget, you just need to find a TJ or LJ Rubicon instead if you're willing to spend that kind of $. 👍

    Nikki's yellow throwback Jeep

I got the opportunity to wheel with @Nickgsjeep last year when we ran Gold Mountain together. I can attest, his Jeep is absolutely beautiful and performed very well on the trail. Hope your doing well Nick, haven't seen you on here in a while. ✌️

Failed smog test for high nox

Haha, I'll have to look into that guarantee. Regarding the vacuum reservoir, I did get under there and spray carb cleaner where the vac line connects, with no sign of a leak. Regarding the HVAC line, can you elaborate on why you think I should cap it? Last year I replaced my timing chain and...

Failed smog test for high nox

Well here's an update on my situation and additional steps taken which resulted in another failed test this morning. 😭 Swapped in the 195 tstat last weekend. I also ran a bottle of sea foam through the brake booster line. I also bought some fuel injector cleaner and a product called Guaranteed...
