Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll buy inner and outer seals and change the oil. Are there any brands for seals you'd recommend?

I just checked again, it has grease on the bottom of the assembly and gear oil around the shaft.

Yeah it's definitely grease. The PO put these seals in and they've done less than 5,000 miles. I'll put it on stands tomorrow and give the wheels a spin.

Yeah I was considering being the main shaft but was concerned it might damage the internals of the shifter. Do you think I'd get away with putting some heat shield around the rubber boot and use a Map torch on the main bend?
