I drove a couple days without anything after removing my hard top. I loved it. However, I really like the Trektop top to keep the sun off. I may still remove the very top of the Trektop from time to time, especially when trail riding.

Works great. I was able to communicate with my brother 2 miles away while parked in my garage, hard top on, and the windows up (garage door was open) on a low power non-license required frequency. I wouldn't consider mounting it outside now.
