Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

So I threw in the towel and had her towed to a shop. They are telling me the computer is done, which I kinda suspected. Can any of you tell me: General price? Can I pull one out of the junkyard? Does it need to be programmed? (1997 TJ 4.0 Manual, I believe it was built 8/96)

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

What is the generally accepted way to check all the connectors for grounding/wiring issues?

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

mopar Crankshaft Positioning Sensor installed, still not starting. Not sure where to take it from here. Fuel and Volt gauges do not work either. They only show life when I do a cluster test. I’m thinking that’s somehow related as before they would “jump” at startup.

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

Distributor pickup did not do the trick. Swapping CPS tomorrow

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

Haha Non technical term, I cracked the plastic circle part on top of the distributor pickup. CPS on order. Mopar distributor pickup in hand.

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

Well I cracked my distributor pickup donut trying to inspect it. I’m going to get a new one and a crankshaft positioning sensor. If they haven’t failed already they probably fail soon, worth replacing anyway I guess.

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

I guess it could be the hood light as the FSM indicates it has yellow/brown wires. The plug is just super low. Any way to rule this mystery plug out with my voltometer? I am at a loss of where to go from here to get this thing started again...

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

AC works fine. Not long enough for hood light. The wires are yellow/red or yellow/brown. Unless I’m mistaken I think this is it. Still can’t find the other end of it.

Where does this plug go? Jeep won’t start

97 TJ 4.0 Manual all of a sudden won’t start. Was running great. When troubleshooting I found this loose plug. I cannot find where it goes. Not sure if it’s related to my issue. It comes out from the same part of wiring harness that goes to the distributor. The vehicle turns over but won’t...

Will my TJ be strong enough to launch / recover boat?

Just for posterity, I’ve been towing and launching with my 1997 TJ 4.0 Manual. The boat is a 2003 Sea Ray 176 BR. The Boat weights 2100. Trailer weight maybe 1000 (?). Tows great, dive with care and leave extra distance for stopping. The launch I go to is *steep*, 4 low, use chocks.

Replaced Fuel Pump, Gas Gauge Still Not Working

IIRC there are 4. I didn’t even waste time figuring out which one, I just cut and replaced all of them. A problem with one means a likely problem with another down the road. Also, I’m down there anyway, not much more work to do the others. Just make sure you mark them and match them properly 👍

Where would be a good place to start evaluating old A/C system on my TJ?

I just wanted to follow up on this post for posterity. As TJ4jim suggested, I monkeyed with the fuses and got my fan working. PO had removed it (?) The old compressor didn’t turn by hand so I went ahead and bought a cheap-ish AC kit from Pit Stop Auto. It was pretty decent considering the...
