Did the Luk kit on my 97 recently. All because the spring clip on the fork for the throwout bearing finally gave out. Have you removed the slave from the bellhousing and checked the position and movement/tension on the fork? Is the spring clip properly seated and the fork moving like it...

I just got mine back together Dec/Jan. Used an engine lift to get the tub off. A bunch of friends would be easier though. Was a pain to maneuver with the lift. Take lots of pictures and label everything! I didn't but then it took me a good year to get back to putting it all back together...
