    Thoughts on compact CB radios?

A Uniden 510 or 520 will be plenty fine, and pretty compact. A 3' Firestik on a tail light mount will work fine for most of your wheeling. For contrast, I run a 30+ year old TRC-415 (Tandy Radio Corp, yepper that's a Radio Shack rig), similar in size/function to the Uniden 510. 9' of coax to...

    Which synthetic winch rope

Cha Cha was da bomb. I used to watch her blow up her motor, as often as not (she was ALL IN), when the Summer Nationals were still down in NJ.

    Let's be careful out there

Local HAM repeater? A definite maybe, but more likely than CB. CB channel 9? Negative, Ghost Rider. Ch. 9 was D.O.A. in my area 30 years ago. Good luck with that...

Are you guys sure about tire pressure?

OP, I run my KO2s, load range C (33x10.5x15) at 27-28 psi. Over 28 gets a bit rough, and they're wearing well across the tread. But if you're happy with what you're running, more power to you.

Your Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best CB Radio

I've got a 3" Firestik, the tip is not tunable but my SWR was <1.3 out of the box. It's plenty flexible without a spring. I bounce it off the pipes in the parking garage at work all the time, and off road I've really bent it without a problem.

Your Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best CB Radio

^+1 What he said. I use a 30 year old Rat Snack (Radio Shack) TRC-415, it's as bare bones as a CB can come. And who knows who made it for RS? Not that it matters, it does what I need it to do, even on the big roads. I paid attention to the details Modernbeat emphasized.

Got one of these A-iPower SUA2000I Inverter Generators

I used to use Stabil until I needed a snow blower carb rebuilt due to the gas going bad. The guy that did the work told me to forget Stabil, and use Fuel Injector cleaner instead. I've used FI cleaner ever since in my extra gas cans, lawn mower, generator, and snow blower. The machines all...

    Tire advice

Then it sounds like a 33x10.5x15 would work. BTW, I love my KO2s in that very size, and I'm running only a 3" lift. I'm geared 3.73; your 4.10 ratio would be better.

    Morris 4x4

I bought my Best Top R-A-T from them about 4 or 5 years ago after window shopping for the better part of a year. Sailcloth, $430 delivered; about $200+ beans less than the closest competitors. As noted, very prompt shipping. I couldn't be happier with the top, even now.

Basically stock Jeeps doing stock Jeep stuff...

I wheeled almost seven years in stock configuration, and took it plenty of places I was told "not likely." Who needs roads? LOL!

    ZJ tie rod upgrade

Mix up ATF and Acetone to a 1:1 ratio, and paint it liberally on the seized parts. Let it soak a couple of hours, and try again. If it still won't budge, try some heat. And get a bigger hammer...

    Advice on 31X10.50R15 tires

Creakydoor, it looks good. I think you will be pleased with them. FWIW, I've got about 15K on my 33x10.5 KO2s, and I've been VERY happy with them for the middling wheeling I do. I rotate all five every oil change, and they're wearing well and evenly. And for the most part I've been able to...

    CB Radio Suggestions?

I still use my 30 year old Rat Snack (Radio Shack) TRC-415. Back then, that was as cheap as I could spend, LOL! After tuning the antenna, it works just fine on the road and in the woods with a 3' firestick on a tail light mount. BTW, I mounted the CB centered on the roll bar in front of the...

    Changing transmission fluid?

Ted, Before you crack the drain plug on your tranny, make sure you can remove the fill plug. A few years ago, when I went to change the fluid in my 5-speed, I couldn't open the fill plug; there was a burr inside the plug. I'm so glad I decided to try to crack that fill plug before I drained it...
