    Magnum engine questions

I used the 14" round open one listed. It is low profile so fits under the hood nicely and is available at any box auto store. Here is a pic. I had the stock 5.9L one and was going to do the cone filter right off of it, but like the old school round look better. Your engine setup looks awesome.

    Magnum engine questions

I kept the stock evap can and valve. No issues. For the Dakota bellhousing and AX15 on my 5.9 magnum swap, I used a starter for a Ram 1500. P/N AC Delco 3371100. Worked great. Attached is a parts list and notes I kept as I worked through this. Mine is a 99 swapped from 2.5L and AX5 to 98...

2000 Jeep TJ 318 5.2 Magnum Swap Build

Yes, you'll need a flywheel for a 5.2L Magnum and same for clutch. My original 2.5L clutch fork as well as slave a master cylinder were the same as Ram/Dakota so kept them original. You may need to get a new clutch fork retainer, but dealerships still have them, they used them on lots of...

2000 Jeep TJ 318 5.2 Magnum Swap Build

A bellhousing from a mid-late 90's Dodge Dakota V6 manual will bolt right up between the 5.2/5.9L Magnums and the AX15. As for clutch parts, Dodge Ram. The 5.2L and 5.9L Magnums are different in the 5.9L is externally balanced so uses a different flywheel than the 5.2L Magnum. Mine is a 5.9L...

2000 Jeep TJ 318 5.2 Magnum Swap Build

The 1" body lift absolutely helps with exhaust clearance and bell housing . I used an open air cleaner on the factory keg.

2000 Jeep TJ 318 5.2 Magnum Swap Build

Took me about 6 months from start to finish, working mainly evenings and weekends with some vacation time from work. A lot of research before and during, but all paid off. It make the Jeep more fun to drive on and off road. Went offroading this weekend at Butler, PA Trailfest, climbed the...

2000 Jeep TJ 318 5.2 Magnum Swap Build

I had one made at a local shop that does t-shirts, vinyl auto decals, mugs, etc... Here's a look... even matched my vinyl color. I had it made a little bigger more like the JEEP lettering versus the "Wrangler" size, but that was my choice. I like the small subtle mods... Cost about $20...

    V8 Magnum Swap

Yes, I used a power steering bracket from a 5.9L Grand Cherokee ( Mopar 53010256AB); power steering pump from a 5.9L GC (AC Delco 36P1490); power steering pump pulley (Mopar 53011017); high pressure power steering line for 5.9L GC (ACDelco 36366440); and the original factory low pressure...

    V8 Magnum Swap

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I didn't do a write up but I do have a spreadsheet I made with all the parts used, part numbers, websites, and rough prices/notes (see attached). Much of the pricing was if purchased new, but lots of used stuff out there too to save money. Go on Novak's...

    V8 Magnum Swap

Good luck. I just completed my 5.9 Magnum w/ AX15 5 speed swap in March. Mine is a '99. Better than I imagined.... Here are some pics... I wanted it to look as factory as I could. 1998 5.9 Magnum upgraded AX15 from Novak Conversions. Takes alot of research and patience, but well worth it in...

Questions for anyone who has done a 5.9 swap

you got any ideas how to add some form of cooling to help mitigate this? Heat sinks, small fan? I mounted the PCM in the factory TJ location passenger side firewall.....

Questions for anyone who has done a 5.9 swap

Thanks. That's what I thought, but figured it was worth asking. I plan to keep the 97 PCM as my backup spare and get the 99 working correctly. It was a "new" unit I purchased from a place that does just that, refurbs and tests them... they claim they never have these failures out of the box...

Questions for anyone who has done a 5.9 swap

I believe I narrowed my issued down to the new 1999 PCM. It's at the supplier being retested and hopefully repaired IF they can duplicate my issue, which again is once at temp for awhile, it wants to stumble and hard to start. Leave it cool and it's great. With the 97 PCM in it, it runs great...

Questions for anyone who has done a 5.9 swap

I used an AX15 from Novak Conversions and had my original Jeep NP231J rebuilt/modified for slip yoke eliminator. There is a plug at the back side of the transfer case for the speed sensor on mine.
